Player Valuation: £1m
Grant Wahl, respected US soccer journalist & insider, reports on his twitter that Everton are eyeing Jozy as potential target if/when Yak departs. He's the guy who wrote the Becks book w/ the Landon controversies. Doubt this is completely made up or unfounded.

Grant Wahl Twitter:
GrantWahl-Not surprised. I'm hearing that Everton is interested in@ JozyAltidore17 RT @ ColinUdoh Yakubu says he is definitely moving.

By the way, Jozy scored against Turkey today from Donovan assist. I've said it before on here, but to write off Jozy at such an early age would be foolish & premature, imo. We talk of ambitions, well sometimes you have to take some risks in order to get there. Make no mistake about it, at 20 yrs old & still growing into his freakishly athletic frame, he has the POTENTIAL to one day be a $20-40 million striker one day. Do I think he'll ever reach that level? Probably not, but it's there. How many players can you say that about? And, more importantly, I'm growing confident he will NOT be a total bust no matter what happens.

So if yak wants to go, saha here, beckford & vic stepping up, portoguese kid, young kid doing well on loan in scotland (I think??), if we could buy jozy outright & still turn profit from yak sale, is it such a horrible idea to give it a go?

Our club, while being on the verge of big things, still need to take some gambles on young potential stud like jozy in order to EVER have a chance of running out those next level world class strikers.

I've watched him closely throught his career, truly believe you're looking at very serviceable EPL quality striker for years under WORSE CASE SCENARIO. The flipside & potential is, quite frankly unlimited.

I say do it. I like yak but have doubts on his age, plus if he wants to go, not much to be said. And what will we get for that money as far as strikers?

I am a definate fan of Altidore. He is maturing quickly. If he gets some good coaching and playing time, he could be great (not 40m, but I could see him being a 12-15 goal a year striker. If Saha's fit, I'd sell Yak and pick up Jozy (and pocket some cash) quite happily. The only concern I'd have is that he seems to be similar to Big Vic (maybe 2 years ago). I don't wnat to impede vic's growth. I think Jozy has a bigger upside, but who knows.

If we only pick up one american this year, I still hope it is Donovan, but I'll take them both gladly.

dont get me wrong, i'd prefer a healthy yak to a healthy lazy bum of saha... yak is just getting into his prime years, too

i just dont like watching him regain his fitness during important games. but if he's healthy, keep 'im.
jozy couldn't hold a starting spot on hull, so thats sayin somethin. but he does have potential.

If Vic can captilise on what he showed on his return we have an absolute monster on our hands, im tiping Big Vic for huge things next season.

that would be amazing. having him play as strong as he can, have billy come off the bench. i'll take it

I never thought he would get there, but on his return i saw in his potential that he has the tools to be one of the best, i think he gets it now as well, that injury in a strange way may have been the best thing to ever happen to him.

His game has come on leaps and bounds.
