Looks to have some confidence back and kicking on. The Ozil shouts are spot on, very clever player and glides past people.

The lad has more talent than Davies and is a more natural number 10 than Ross. Chuffed he is getting his chance.
Aswell as his goal he crossed a great ball to klaassen who nearly scored .hopefully we stay in all competitions he will get game time .

saw more effort form him tonight to get the ball albeit for a short appearance ! another cracking goal tho ! maybe working with the 1st team a bit more might improve his work ethic ?
No problem with his work ethic mate. He does generally put in a shift. He just doesn't have the physique to press like Gana or Schneids. He has a languid style that reminds me of Le Tissier, but he isn't lazy. Unsy's had the under 23s playing a pressing game long before Koeman joined the club.

He sometimes switches off at times which is something he needs to sort out. My biggest issue when I've seen him is that he drifts out of games for periods. But he's absolute quality on the ball and is very capable of scoring goals like he did today. He can pick a pass too and is also excellent from set pieces.

I'm delighted for him that he's had an excellent start to pre-season. I just hope he doesn't get over hyped as he won't play like that every time he takes to the field. But I'd like to see us keep hold of him, at least up until January, and see how he does in Europe and some cup games. Maybe come off the bench in some premier games against teams who park the bus.

Whichever way it goes, he NEEDS to be playing first team, and not u-23 this year. I think hes won himself a spot with his performances so far, though while I think our team would be better for him being on it(great 70th minute sub to change a game), I think HE would benefit more from being loaned to a side that will get him 30 games this season.

On a side note, how big is it that Rooney is back and teaching Dowell and others? The side already has great coaching, and has a great academy and place to learn, but for the young guys to now also have Rooney taking some of them under their wings, it basically means the younger players here are now being given every possible tool to succeed, and advice from one who did. Thats got to be worth his salary at least to further develop the gems.

i know hes not quick but he drifts/cant be bothered during games, when he could be putting more effort in i feel ! thats the bit that stops him being nearer the 1st team than he is !

Since comparing him to fantastic players is a thing people are doing in here I'll say his style off of the wing is Robben like

Think we agree he drifts in games mate. But he switches off. It isn't a case of him not being arsed at all. It's a concentration thing which he needs to sort out.

He has a very good work ethic although his style makes him look lazy. Believe me Unsy wouldn't tolerate him if he was lazy mate.

Anyway, let's hope he sorts it out as I think he will get more game time if he does.
