Can I ask why we are even having this discussion?

Don't throw the Lukaku money argument as we've massively increased our wage bill and we all know the spending hasn't finished.

For me it is a good thread to show what a good job he is doing for Everton, although there are already Moshiri threads

If the successful businessman Moshiri came in and just spent his own money then that wouldn't really make him a very good businessman would it. He's here to make a buck. No issues with that whatsoever as to make his buck he needs to make us better which at this moment we certainly are. Not just the 11 you see on the pitch but the whole club has been improved and will continue to be improved over the coming years. Sponsorship is better and will go through the roof with the new stadium.

If anyone wants to moan about money being spent then the question should be asked where did the money go that he invested initially. I know he bought shares but if he is expected to put his hand in his pocket to fund us then why not all the other shareholders, I don't see why he is being singled out. I dread to think where we'd be without him with Bobby still here and not a pot to pea in as Lukaku would have been sold last year just to survive.

That's a fair point mate. The money Moshiri invested bought him ownership of the club (well, effectively with 49.9%). But that money went straight into the pocket of the selling shareholders (Bill, Jon Wood et al) as a profit on their own original investments in the shares of the club.

While I would feel sure Moshiri has indeed used his own funds since then to help the club to develop, his initial 'investment' was just the price set by the sellers, who will have made something like a 400% profit - albeit over many years.

Last summer everyone 'was ours' and we had a little mole problem.
This summer the multi's aren't even trying to be subtle.

Nope, investing means putting money into something in order to get a return.

So far hes invested 87.5m to purchase shares and also invested a further 80m in the shape of an interest free loan.

Which makes him the person whos invested the most money into the club in our entire 139 year history.

Stick that in your net spend pipe.
You do realise the money he paid for the shares didn't go into the club. It went into the pockets of existing shareholders.

Not going to go through it all but

-Cleared the debts (his own money)
-Got a plan going for a stadium
-Better sponsorship revenues
-Spent about £150m in two and half transfer windows with more to come.
-tarted up the old lady (no one else did it and long overdue)
-probably a load more I haven't even mentioned.

Apart from that nothing but let's not let the facts get in the way of some attention seeking

Didn't he use his own money to get rid of Martinez as well? Either way we would have been stuck with Martinez for another season without His girl.

Morshiri is defo reinvesting in the team that's for sure gents.

Now there is no issue with this Chelsea do it etc....

The issue we have is we don't have that many £50+ Million men to sell like your Oscars etc... we sold our most sellable asset and have one left, probably not for very long.

This for me is another huge issue with signing Sigurdsson, if our way is to buy assets to sell for a big fee in future to bank roll further purchases well he doesn't fit the bill.

Yes he is he paid off the loans for a start.Ffp makes it that you still have to balance the books to an extent.

Yeah of course, Chelsea do it the best IMO.

City get around it in very suspicious ways but hey ho.

I just don't see many sellable assets that are going to bring you in Lukaku money next summer when we need to do this again.

Effectively, we haven't spent a dime this summer when you factor in the Rom and Deulofeu money and it's concerning the Sigursson deal is stalling, why don't we just pay what they want and get him in? If Southampton want 60m for Virgil van Dijk, what's stopping us going out and getting him as well? I don't get it. And this Cuco signing, he's clearly gonna start right back first game of the season, I'm not happy with that. He's bang average. Don't get me wrong, Moshiri is working wonders. He's cleared the debts and we're on the brink of a fancy new stadium on the docks, I'm still pinching myself about it all but the team comes first. Where are these statement signings or is that what Rooney was? Ignore me, I'm just being a spoiled brat. COYB!
