I'm of the opinion (as are some others) that he needa to knuckle down and earn his place. He has the ability. If he does, that enhances his chances of getting into the England World Cup squad anyway.
Ok, if he goes to a West Ham or Newcastle he starts every week. But he still has to do the business. Either way he has to perform.
Whats his longer term aims after next years World Cup? If he goes to a Champions League club I could understand his thinking. But even so, does that guarantee him a place in first eleven? Not sure it does in any those top 6 clubs.
In the next 2 seasons (3 max), Koeman will most likely be on his way. Ross needs to look at the bigger picture, but probably won't.

I think part of his thinking will be if he goes to Spurs or another CL club he automatically goes up in Southgates thinking because he wil be training with players also likely to be picked by Southgate which is an advantage to the England manager to have players who are constantly training with each other. England coaches for yonks have been selecting mini groups from a small selection of clubs rather than completely following an individual form guide. Pretty sure the culture at Egland encourages the players to get in with an in crowd.....

Its a fair point and does have merit. Clicks are always a big thing in England Squads. But I still think he has to play 'regularly' and perform well.
Spurs seem the strongest suitors but he'll still have a job on his hands there.

West ham are prepared to meet the near 50 million price if you listen to the dodgy media reports!

Unless Spurs are selling Ali or Eriksen, how does Barkley get into that team?....

We'll see mate. I'd be disappointed in Ross if he went there. In fact I'm going to be a bit gutted if/when he leaves for another club regardless of who it is. All a bit sad, but I'll get over it as it won't be the end of the world.

Ross predicament atm!

If he does go, as seems likely then it is a sad day for both Ross Barkley and Everton. He belongs at Goodison but this saga is ruining his status in the club.
I don't understand why th he would battle away at Everton when we struggled and now just when we appear to be going somewhere he decides to leave.
If he takes a step down and goes to West Ham I will be disappointed in him.
