Ross Barkley

I just find it odd where the disappointment is aimed at though.

We're losing a talented player we could have built our side around for the best part of decade, due to the whims and actions of a journeyman manager who will be here another two years at best.

If people looked at it logically and put themselves in Barkley's shoes with the deadlines etc. from Koeman, then the conclusion is obvious - he's a talented player; why should he sign with us when his talented isn't appreciated here by management?
The club have offered Barkley a contract and he doesn't want to sign it.
I don't see why Koeman would get the blame for that.

He is a frustrating player that show too much inconsistency and drives managers bonkers. Southgate, Alardyce, Hodgson and Koeman all know he has the talent but they also know that he isn't a player to be trusted with responsibility. Koeman got improvement out of him but seems Barkley just wants to do his own thing or is too slow a learner for a manager to show the faith.

Its not a coincidence that almost every manager he has played under (Bar Bobby brown shoes) has had reservations with regards to Ross. Moyes/Koeman/Alladyce/Southgate/Warnock when on loan. Ok i get some of these are dinosaurs in terms of football but i would still say its quite telling that almost everyone he has played under has had reservations about certain parts of his game and trusting him within game situations.

For me personally if he stays...he stays, if he goes good luck to the lad aswell. He is not the player we thought he would be who would drive us forwards to bigger and better things, at the moment he is just a good PL footballer, nothing more, nothing less.

I hope he stays, but, I don't think he will. He has not, as yet, fulfilled his early promise but I kind of think he will eventually. I would like it to be with us but, if not good luck to the lad. I just wish would either, sign a new contract, or say he has no intention of signing and get himself a move.

It's not an agenda just because I don't think he's the second coming of Christ .... I said he doesn't work hard enough in the past (and he didn't) I say I didn't rate him... and now my opinion on his contract is that he won't stay for whatever reason... and I think he would rather run his contract down than sign for westham or similar this summer. No agenda ... just opinion. Some of the people on here think the sun shines out of his arse . That's their opionion, and some think he will stay... but saying I have an agenda (plz tell me what it is btw) is incorrect

You seem a bit agitated there mate?

You ask what the agenda is, whilst stating that you "didn't rate him"..
A quick search shows you've made 200 posts in this thread and that only goes back to Sep't btw. A very quick glance doesn't show many positive views on Ross at all.
Is it more a 'dislike' rather than not thinking he's any good?

To add balance, if Ross goes to any of the likes of whu or newc, then I'll be really disappointed.
Much the same as if he stayed and went for a free, that I feel would be a real snub to the many Evertonians who support him (the caveat being that his manager did seem to want to talk about him publicly on so many occasions).

Agree mate. He'd be mad to stay. He's made the decision that the manager is here for another couple of years and that he doesn't fancy the constant strife. I think he also probably recognises that he isn't going to coach us to succes too. I'd imagine he must be excited at the prospect of being coached by Pochettino.

Could just as easily implode for them mate, mourinho style of play and the United fans expectations of how they want the team playing will reach a collision point sooner or later. Especially if they go through a poor run at some point.
Maybe. But he'll do well for them in the CL with that style of play and the quality of players he'll have at his disposal. I can easily see them making it through the group stages and as far as the QFs with a decent draw.

I expect United to get top four again next season too.

Yep. It's why I think a top 4 side can indulge that due to the quality they have to compensate him.

A good point made on a fan show that Ross is an instinctive player. When he's been told he gives the ball away too much etc, it makes him dwell and try to pick a pass more rather doing what his instincts say.

When he's been instructed to do something that's not 100% him, you'll get less of a player. He'll still perform well, he'll still be capable. But he won't perform consistently. You'll get great games, you'll get average games, and poor games. The national side is full of average players told to do things they don't do for their club...hence why they're awful.

It's like asking a striker do work the channels and hunt lost causes when all he wants to do it slot etc. They'll do it, but you'll be wanting that player who slots. Take Aguero at City. Because he doesn't do certain things Pep wants, he'd rather play Gabriel. Bonkers but it's a valid reason.

This is not blaming anyone for Ross as a player. It's just the type of player Ross is. You don't play him to do things he's okay at, you play him to do what he's good at.

Koeman won't indulge that. You have to be an all rounder with attributes not just good at one thing.
