Ross Barkley

Hodgson = 3 tournaments. 3 wins out of 11 games. Didn't get out of the group stages at the World Cup. Lost to Iceland in the Euros.

Allerdyce = Managed 1 game.

Southgate = Managerial successes include being sacked by Middlesbrough and getting them relegated, after years of not having coaching badges. Taking the England Under 21s to a Euro championship...and not getting out of the group stages.

I'll reiterate the point in using the national team as an argument for any player is void due to how awful the set up and coaches are.
Fair point. I'm a Barkley fan and want him to stay (if he wants to stay) but it could be argued that all the managers who've worked with Barkley have never really really fancied him, with the exception of that clueless whopper Martinez.

You may be correct that to some extent he's willingly running his contract down as it would certainly negate any large fee we'd be demanding.

On the other hand, running down his contract has it's own sizeable pitfalls: will other clubs be willing to wait? Will they not look elsewhere?

Equally, Koeman has already shown that he's more than willing to play hard ball so that could have a detrimental affect on his career.

It's in both ours and his interest to get this situation sorted as soon as possible, be that he stays (and signs a new deal) or moves on to elsewhere.

Maybe me saying "he's running his contract down" is wrong what I mean is.. I think he is willing to run it down to get the move he wants... ie a move to Spurs etc... if a move materialises before then I think he will take it ... but I think rather than sign for westham Etc... he will run it down

what ever happens our club and Manager have handled all this very badly , and if Ross signed the two faced posters on here will say he always had it in him if he is our star player next season!

Joey, do you really think Ross has got it in him to be our star player next season, when has he been outstanding on a consistant basis, like you and thousands of other Evertonians I want him to be a success with the Blues, been waiting a few years now, seriously doubt if he will become the player we want him to be.

the knives are out he will be a great midfielder one day for us or an other team!

Nothing to do with knives Joey, I honestly hope you are right and he makes it with Everton, even if he leaves he goes with my best wishes to do well with his future club, even if he sits it out for the next twelve months and goes for nothing at the end of that time.

Moyes was always over cautious. And overall I think Martinez and Koeman blooded more youth players in their short times than Moyes did in a decade.

Koeman just ain't got time to place all his attention on Ross IMO. Wants to keep him? I think so. Ready to build a team or make him a key player? I don't think so because he doesn't do certain things Koeman wants all the time.

I think Koeman has time for him, I also think he's really tried to help him, since Ross got his act together he's looked fitter than ever, his for December-Mid April was as good as I've seen him, many times at Goodison he brought him off in the late stages so we could stand and give him a round of applause.

I think he'll stay and continue to shine under Koeman, I think Monday week will be interesting when he is due back for training.

Problem is English mentality to football and footballers. Said before and saying again.. Barkley is the most underappreciated and misunderstood English player around.

Just had a conversation with a Liverpool fan who thinks he is pants.. was shocked to see his stats! He has been integral and a team like Spurs he will excel!
