Summer Transfer Window 2017

A few players we're after this summer started out as cheaper players and are now super expensive (VVD/Siggy etc.)

So why are people on here turning their noses up at people like Robertson because they're not marquee expensive signings?

Surely we should be taking some cheaper players that can grow into the expensive players we'd be missing out on in a couple of years.

Nothing wrong with signing potential but we also need ready made players. A combination of both will be ideal

How absolutely lmao is this article. Is Paul Doyle a red @Connor?

I'll be the first to say £50-60m for VVD is just absurd. I watched him get dominated in the air by Dele Alli.

Funny thing is the Koppites and their pet Journalists have all bought into this myth that all they need is a couple of better defensive players to sort out all their problems, not realising that it's not so much the personnel as the system which leaves them vulnerable when teams sit deep against them and negate their high press with ball into the channels.

For all the talk about their woes at the back, they had the 5th best defensive record in the league this season, better than us, Arsenal and all lower than us.

VVD is a very good player, but he is capable himself of switching off badly at times and having brainfart moments as well

Look at Klopps Dortmund teams, they had some absolutely great centre backs during his time their, Hummels and Subotic (in his prime) - yet on average they conceded a similar amount of goals to what his rs side is doing, it's the system not the players thats the problem

Much like with the 'unlucky' with injuries by-line, people don't want to criticise the man or the methods and prefer to look for an outside influence which can fix those problems.

'Heavy metal football' comes with a price, being open at the back and with players susceptible to breaking down frequently

Now's the time for Steve Walsh to show what a 'super scout' he is

We were all buzzing off him joining the club, and so far his presence has been underwhelming at best

If we're being priced out of signing decent Prem footballers (Gylfi, VVD) - I'd rather see us reinvest the Lukaku money in scouted potential rather than cast off dross (Smalling, Romero, Martina etc)

Smalling is one of united best defenders....

Why should we?

I'm sure we have our targets to bring in if/when Rom goes.

They won't be restricted to the club who happen to be buying him.

people have latched onto the easy link to Batshuayi mate that's why.

actually not that bothered about Lukaku leaving, think sometimes to move forward you need to change something massive at the club and we are VERY locked into everything through Rom mode
