John Noakes. Respect. Two things come to mind.

The baby elephant incident - the uniformed keeper slid into obscurity under the camera after his brief TV moment.

And Noakes on the top of Nelsons Column in cold weather remarking that the statue could do with a brush-up.

Just watched the Nelson Column one , Jesus Christ !!!

Didnt he hold a world record for the highest parachute free fall at some point? IIRC, he did it from 5 miles up, or is my memory playing tricks with me?

. After his five-mile-high free-fall with the RAF in 1973,[5] he held the record for the longest free-fall parachute jump by a British civilian for a few years, although it has since been broken.

Cant remember what I watched on TV last night, but a TV clip from 40 plus years ago I do. Sake.
