Just me or is there a trending patern with our transfer targets?

Keane linked with us, pretty much done...............then utd, liverpool, everyone else linked
Pickford linked with us, pretty much done...............then utd, liverpool, city, everyone else linked

Still firmly believe the only reason we got Schneiderlin is united not wanting to sell to a direct rival.

I believe that to be true as well. I could have seen him end up at a team around united so as we were not a threat to them he cold come here.

As for the links, i have always held the belief the media talk up players on a club's behalf simply to raise their profile. Going back to the summer, there was a lad from turkey i think or somewhere that was linked with them lot. Only picked up on it as it was a discussion in the office. Anyway long story short, this lad who was linked with liverpool ended up at....Wolves. Many players we get linked with end up at the bottom of the table clubs almost like it ups the profile of the player. For example a random eastern european left back, linked with Burnley, Palace and Everton. IT sounds a bit of a coup if brighton then signed him as he was chased by european everton, see what i mean?

Hence why 90% of transfer rumours are exactly that, Agents at work upping the profile of their player or the papers just trying to sell more copies.

...United and us aren't that far apart, or at least weren't when we got Schneiderlin.

We all know we'll end up with a Senegalese international we've never heard of and a mad scramble at the final day to bag relegated players for overinflated fees

For those interested in a recap....the season is not over, but we have already been linked, however tenuously, with the following:

ST: Willian Jose, Sandro Ramirez, Cedric Bakambu, Diego Falcinelli, Kasper Dolberg
W: Richard Ghezzal, Henry Onyejuru, Jonathan Cafu
Mid: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney, Youri Tielemans, Willian, Davy Klaassen, Leander Dendoncker
CB: Michael Keane, Virgil Van Dijk, Stefan De Vrij, Ben Gibson, Harry Maguire, Francesco Acerbi, Alessio Romagoli, Mateo Musacchio
LB: curiously none really
RB: Cedric Soares, Cuco Martina, Kieran Trippier
GK: Jordan Pickford, Kasper Schmeichel, Stephane Ruffier

Quite a list (and i am sure to have missed a few)....will we sign even one of those lads? Given the size of that list i would think one of them is bound to end up in blue. Assuming Rom and Ross stay (we should all hope yes!) then at a minimum we need 1 ST, 1 Mid (with goals in him), 1 CB and 1 GK of first team quality.
@Neiler is gonna have a hell of a footer this season!

Rumours we have fell behind Liverpool for Keane.

Why didn't we try and get this deal done in January instead of faffing about? We knew there would be serious interest from top clubs in the summer and we would likely miss out.

We're absolutely hopeless at transfers.

what do you think has happened with Bacca over there? every time I've seen him he's looked dreadful. Do you think the style of footy just isn't suited to him?

Honestly I don't know exactly, he seems to be easily cut off from the midfield. The quality behind him is very poor by Milan standards, Suso has fizzled out, Pasalic is okay but not consistent, same could be said for ocampos and Delboy, Montolivio hasn't been the same since picking up injuries. Its at the point now where Donnarumma looks like he is miles ahead of the rest of the team.

In the bacca case in particular, he is suffering from the same issues the likes of Romelu suffers, play to his strengths, I don't think 1 upfront works, maybe the answer is to play lapadula along side him or another player who can take the attention of one of the defenders.
Right now Bacca is looking average, something we all know isn't true.
