I'd be happier if I thought Koeman had a "great plan" in mind rather than hoping to pick up a big name or two in the market.

Fair enough, the lads comments the other day though would seem he isn't looking to join one of the massive CL teams at this stage (he name dropped City and United as being somewhere he wouldn't go for example).

Always the worry for me on these types of links would be the likes of Dortmund and a few others who are frankly a big level above us recently and who have the track record for bringing in young players from outside of Germany for example and playing them (rather than United, City, Chelsea etc who have parked these types in reserves or loaned them for 2-3 seasons running).

The hope is that with only one season under his belt, that those teams will want to see him 'more proven' before offering him the role he would want etc, so maybe for players who actually want to play rather than just be a fringe player - we fill a niche

I guess the situation is similar though to when Spurs got Eriksen - similar age, similar hype on the player, and at the time spurs in a similar position status wise to us

Yeah aha. I mean about the way he seems to be totally confident on the ball, a great first touch, excellent close control, almost an arrogance in some of his finishes. He’s basically the next Van Basten.


Of course he could be just as easily the next Bendtner/Cornelius/Helenius but we hope not!
