Ross Barkley

We had 61% possession and 19 shots in that Anfield rape believe it or not ! That's not very Moyes, neither was shipping 4 goals to them though...

I remember thinking after that match that we'd actually played ok when we had the ball... Problem is we forgot about defence, it was like a preview of what was to come in the next couple of seasons.

The stats were distorted for that game though, we were never in the game. 4-0 down after about 50 minutes and they missed a pen to make it 5, then they completely stepped off the gas because the game was won and let us do what we wanted. Was that the game Barkley cried when he was subbed or was that last season's debacle?

You'll have to excuse the law student in me, but your whole stance seems rather illogical, to be honest. You sit on this board and moan about Koeman and support Martinez, basically using the 72 points we accrued in 13/14 as the backbone to make your case. My question to you is that did you not witness the regression or the collapse of Roberto's tenure here? 72/5th ---> 47/11 ----> 47/11. So I'm confused by your logic. You can't argue that Martinez's Everton didn't severely regress and that he, as the manager, was largely the one at fault. Furthermore, if you look at Martinez's record as a manager as a whole, the 72 points seems an aberration and not the norm. So what exactly is your stance? You think if Everton kept Martinez they would have rebounded from 11/11 in the past 2 years. Lastly, who do you fault for the collapse? Players or Roberto? Seems as if you would be pleased that Koeman has taken essentially the same team that Martinez had and turned them from 11 to 7th and will finish with an expected return of +14ish? points in the table.
I dont think you'll make much of a lawyer with that type of 'persuasive' prosecution mate.

Not sure, only time I remember Barkley looking like he was gonna cry was when Koeman didn't use him as a sub earlier this season.

Actually there was also that time he looked mortified at the FA cup semi when crowd booed at half time whilstle and you could see him asking jags if it was him they were booing... Or something like that.

Haha, if only he was intelligent as you. By the incredibly high standards that you set, I'm surprised that you find the time to post on grand old team. I see you as a leader of industry, maybe doing pioneering work in medicine.

I can't believe for a man of such high standards and intelligence that you could be doing anything but working at the top of your field. Your so intelligent I'm surprised you didn't become a self made billionaire and pip Moshiri to the ownership of the club last year if I'm honest.

Sorry dave but he's got too many flaws in his game for my liking and it's not koemans fault. I'm reluctant to criticise too much because it gets a bit over the top. but equally his backers who won't hear a bad word said about him are also slightly unhinged. He's a certainty to leave in my opinion

so would it be your opinion he is not good enough to be a first team/bench option for a top team in the Premier League?

Don't be so patronising, no need for that.

He obviously cannot answer the question, so dodges the answer as per.

First time back on GOT looking through posts for over a week and guess what, the Martinez love fest is back in full swing because we aren't going to match his outstanding 72 points and 5th place trophy season.

We also aren't going to match his outstanding 2 x 11th place and 47 point finishes either which were actually more recent, but hey that's not important I guess.

All the weight and expectation to play a simple pass and make easy footballing decisions will be the same at any club, especially if he goes to one with European expectations.

No. But it's a step back rather than forward.

You want to build not take down part of a wall

Of course, but lets be honest, you can understand people questioning him surely?

I am starting to wonder if he is just good against the lesser sides in the league, a bit of a flat track bully maybe as some might call it.

You could have simply given him an answer like...

However I can see why the totally unwarranted patronising put down was your preferred option tbf like.
