Summer Transfer Window 2017

This summer will be a massive one.

Fair few blues don't want a repeat of last summer and rather than try for a certain level of player like we did last summer, want us to go the level below and get the deals done which are more realistic.

Thing is though, those realistic signings so to speak won't exactly be a difference maker, yeah we may push on and be able to kind of maintain are current position whilst competing in Europe and the cups etc, but to really push on and take that next step we need to take a risk, pay whats needed and sell the club better than we currently have done to players and agents.

Last Summer we had a manager arriving a bit late, then all the uncertainty and waiting for the DoF to come in, and then the problems with bedding both in and getting them on the same page as each other (getting to know each others plans etc)

That valid excuse isn't their anymore, whilst not exactly busting down doors, we have stopped the decline and have improved significantly this season, we will have EL footy to offer players also, so in theory we are an easier sell to players now

We have shifted on or are in the process of getting rid of nearly all the clubs 'dead wood' which creates a lot of room in the squad for incoming players - it frees up wages, and in prospective sales we could raise upwards of 80m+ without the sale of any essential first team players. The manager has shown he is willing to play younger players (which was a valid concern initially against him) which should hopefully make a difference in attracting any talented younger players looking for that next step up.

Basically the squad is needing of those 'realistic' signings to strengthen us and fill some problem areas (and give us a plan B in games), but not a shadow of a doubt we need to get in 2-3 players that everyone in the media etc consider beyond are reach

...I know nothing about him but if he's a 'converted winger' he might have found a niche. Many of the great full backs started life as wingers (Ray Wilson) but it doesn't happen so much now, although Valencia is doing well at United.

Moses as well
