Summer Transfer Window 2017

can you see us spending around 100mill on two new CB's not an absolute chance in hell

Exactly and why fans need to be patient In the window and not moan when we don't sign those type of players on £150k+ a week deals for mega sums.

I was as optimistic as the rest but both windows last summer basically highlighted we'll have the money to effectively keep our status as "the best of the rest" I'm not saying we can't finish higher but that we simply won't be signing big CL standard name players imo.

I hope to be proven wrong but we are not a Man City/Chelsea imo that may come after the stadium.

Why would we want Rooney? Better than Kone
Why would Mata/fabregas move? They wouldn't to us considering they are first team players
Why would we want hart or forster? Better than Robles and stek combined

Better than Kone, Robles and Stek doesn't exactly set the bar very high. (For the record I'd have Hart or Forster, not keen on the granny shagger though).

It does not no, but then i would prefer to see it as a reflection of how bad some of our players actually are here rather than improvements as such. A ten goals back up striker who can run around will be a massive upgrade on Kone for example.

Can't disagree with that. I'm just not sure that player is Rooney (or if Rooney is even a striker any more, he's barely played that position for Manure in the last two seasons).

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment but no CL and no silverware in 22 years will put some players off, sadly.

Sod them then. Their loss.

This CL stuff is nonsense anyway and people get conned by it. Its Champions League money they want, we may be able to offer that for a change.

Rooney probably isn't what we need, no. Admittedly i would like him to come back but that is simply from the hope of what he could do rather than the player he appears to be. The romantic in me would love to see him scoring and celebrating in front of the kop next season, would be incredible to see.

In terms of what we would need, just a striker who can get about. I have said it before, we need options not players brought in here and it is even more true now we have cleared the squad out somewhat. I don't want another striker like Lukaku, i want us to sign one that is the polar opposite. I want wingers who offer something different, not the same end product down that end of the pitch. i think personally, that would be the difference next season, if we can adapt to teams instead of playing the same tactics and players and wonder why we aren't winning more.

Well the problem here is that with that complete failure of bringing in players on big money this year, that whole Stones STCC, we CAN'T bring in 3 players @ 50m, can we? You pay that much for a player, you are paying top wages as well.
