Hasn't even been offered a contract yet mate, summer
How do we know this? I want proof that he hasn't been offered a contract. If our manager is saying he needs to sign but you and others are saying he hasn't been offered one doesn't that make Koeman a liar? Also tremendously stupid if he gets called out on it by the player!

Well the quotes, in full, said 'what will you do to ensure barkley stays' and koeman replies 'first, we offer him a contract'.... this to me suggests they haven't offered it yet.

It has previously been stated by koeman that barkley is a special case and will be looked at in the summer, I can't imagine that stance has changed myself!

Edit; the quote is actually a little different to how I remembered there, but still comes across the same to me

I get them impression he hasnt been offered a contract but there seems to be nothing coming out about it. Nothing from his camp saying anything about what he wants, normally something will leak out but there seems to be nothing, all we know is he hasnt signed one. Its an odd situation, but I think until after we go to Arsenal there is nothing happening, once the last game is out of the way i expect the following week we will know whats going on, just have to be patient

Koeman has said multiple times that he was offered a contract weeks ago and has until the end of the season to sign or he will be sold...

'We offer him a new contract and there are two possibilities,’ warned boss Ronald Koeman. ‘One is sign. If he doesn’t, we need to sell the player. It is simple. It’s not so difficult in my opinion'

Doesn't sound like he's been offered a contract yet to me from the quotes, but the media will always spin the way they tell the story

I don't really understand why he hasn't been offered a contract yet? Seems a bit weird to have not even put something on the table for him considering all the paper talk.

Nowhere did I say he bossed it, I said he played well and was MOM, as was agreed by most on here and across the media, but you will see what you want to see, I am talking about the here and now not under Bobby. He played well, my main objection is the whole idea of him 'buying time'from the fans, it's the complete opposite, we need to buy his time, lots of it, preferably a 5 year contract signed asap at whatever the going rate is for the player with the most chances created and assists in 2017, pretty priceless I would say. I didn't see too many agreed with you - does that not tell you something?

The original post I quoted said he "bossed" the game... I disagreed and said I thought he played ok and contributed very well defensively and was poor offensively ... I said that as long as he contributes and works hard... that the fans won't get on his back whenever he has an off day . That's all I said .. and the media are not a good source of player ratings and mom. They just hype players for the sake of knocking them down and that's pretty common knowledge I thought. I remember Pompey away years ago when Rooney thought he'd been sent off and left the pitch... he done very little that game but scored the winner.., and the peppers were saying how amazing he was and gave him mom...

On the contract issue the fact he hasn't been offered one doesn't preclude that negotiations have been ongoing for some time in fact I would be shocked if they hadn't. You only offer the contract to sign when you have reached your final decision on what it will contain.
Given the timescale involved it seems odd it has not been offered/signed and suggests to me that agreement is still some way off, which is concerning.
