Ross Barkley

Is it though?

I find it hard to believe that even an idiot like McKenzie would purposely launch an online racial attack on a top flight player, especially one from Liverpool with everything else attached to that.

I reckon he is more having a go at the perceived notion that Barkley is a bit thick (no idea where that comes from either, he is no less eloquent etc than 90% of footballers)

McKenzie is guilty of being a bit thick himself here. He has put zero thought into it for a bit of a laugh/"bantz" with his idiot readership.

So although I wont be jumping on this racism bandwagon, as I said I will be more than happy to see him get some flack just for being a knobhead in general. If thats what it takes for him to get some much deserved vilification then so be it.

Maybe some people are just plain silly? They think it's ok to say something (in the grey area) in fact that is unacceptable. In the end, every person's sense of morality is different.

Gorilla and monkey chants in general are widely used as cheap forms of racism, particularly in sport where we've seen if for years.

The imagery of a donkey or ass would be a lot more appropriate if McKenzie was directing it at a perceived lack of intellect in Barkley.

McKenzie knew what he was doing and is being rightly called out on it.

Yeah I know what the chants etc are, I have had it myself (not in whilst playing at a stadium or anything like..)

There are no pictures of Barkley doing a "donkey pose" though.

Nobody but the bloke himself will know if he purposely did it or not. Everyone is going on about checking wikipedia for his background or that people should know he is mixed race, it was a personal tweet wasn't it? I very much doubt any thought or attention was put into it.

Its just another attack against the city and people in general, its calculated and thought out as he is not that stupid to realise the date and what it means to us scousers red or blue.
I would certainly love for him to bump into a few of these drug dealers whilst their beaked up to the eye balls.

Oh that would be a hard fight for me to pick a side.

Is it possible they all can lose?

I do laugh at this weird notion that there are not drug dealers in pretty much every area where people are throughout the world and it just happens here.

Anyone think this may spur the club on to finally ban that rag now?
Do many people physically buy a paper anymore ?
My dad still has his echo delivered, but I can't remember the last one ( racing post Dosent count ) that I purchased ?

No offence lads but i think you're clutching at straws at it being racist. It's not common knowledge that Barkleys dad was mixed race and grandparent Nigerian. You only have to look at the reaction to this story from other fans... tons of comments saying they had no idea barkley had mixed race background. Lots of comments slagging off mckenzie and rightly so but i doubt there was racially motivated intent behind it, more anti scouse sentiment which is basically just as bad.

Ignorance is not an excuse.

I find it absolutely insane that people are giving that paper and that journalist the benefit of the doubt.

I suppose it's a coincidence that he's done it this weekend as well hey
