Ross Barkley

Baines didn't "make it" until he was older though. He'd also been overlooked by everyone until Sid Benson got him a chance at Wigan. Point being he's probably a sound individual anyway, but he's not been hailed as the Messiah since he was 14.

That is a fair point Jdawg. Though even the United hullabaloo didn't turn Baines into a bell. Baines is what most young footballers should aspire to be. Especially when it comes to taste in music!

We're seeing Tom Davies go through a similar thing to Ross now. In fact he's broken through properly earlier than Ross did, in part due to his leg break of course. But I get the feeling Tom will handle it all very well. Some kids are a bit sharper than others and some have better folks around them.

That said, I think Ross should really be cut some slack. He hasn't been beating up women like former RS starlets and he hasn't bought a pink range rover, so he could be handling fame and success a lot worse really.

It's the empty section at the bottom of the contract.

Sign it and let's get going.

I'm assuming that's just the professional part of the equation where you try and get the best deal. I really see Ross as such a Scouser that I doubt he'd feel comfortable anywhere else. I don't think he's mature enough to move to London on his own tbh.

If he is sold it sends out the wrong message as I think he has done everything possible to be in Koeman's team plans but the club are not willing to give him the contract he wants, the contract he deserves. Why it's taking this long to put pen to paper I don't know... maybe Koeman's comments at the start were ott and Barkley now fancies a move elsewhere. He was excellent on Sunday especially in the 2nd half, just shows how brilliant he can be on his day. The club are in no position to be selling on the best players, but if they won't meet his demands then I suppose they can't let him go for free. Very disappointing if this happens.

How do you know he just doesn't want to go to a champions league team?

We can't offer the same wages as the super rich clubs but still offer good wages all things considered. I really doubt it would have been a poor contract offer.

Ross is at best considering wether he wants to stay or not, at worst, he's already decided he wants to leave.

The fact RK has said we'll have to sell him if he doesn't sign a new contract suggests it's down to RB not wanting to sign for whatever reason. I think if it was just a case of negotiating wages then RK would have said something like we need to reach agreement with him over a new deal, which he hasn't.
