Ross Barkley

If he is sold it sends out the wrong message as I think he has done everything possible to be in Koeman's team plans but the club are not willing to give him the contract he wants, the contract he deserves. Why it's taking this long to put pen to paper I don't know... maybe Koeman's comments at the start were ott and Barkley now fancies a move elsewhere. He was excellent on Sunday especially in the 2nd half, just shows how brilliant he can be on his day. The club are in no position to be selling on the best players, but if they won't meet his demands then I suppose they can't let him go for free. Very disappointing if this happens.

I'm not 100% sure he has yet has he?

"We offer him a new contract, and there are two possibilities," said Koeman.

"One, he signs that contract. If he doesn't sign that contract then we need to sell the player. It's simple, it's not so difficult in my opinion."

If it's not actually on the table, negotiations will have begun with the guy from Wasserman (Paul Martin) who represents him.

That Paul Martin has had a lot of dealing in the past with Everton / Kenwright. Wouldn't be a surprise if he's being awkward over this if he see's himself pushed to one side my Moshiri.

trying to earn enough gems to buy the next piece of their virtual girlfriend.

Don't always need a like for like replacement. The shape of the team will be different next year.

That's true.

But Barkley has been key to the shape of the side this year working.

In fact, he's a key player and vital member of the squad. Koeman is very keen to keep him and hasn't invested a lot of time in the lad just to see him go.

We'll only sell if there's no other viable solution.

strikes me as an odd thing for koeman to say, hopefully it means they are confident of him signing...

A rare commodity is mahrez. A winger that guarantees you goals. Sadly I think his ego and talent suggests he would prefer a move to a champions league club.

But they aren't guaranteed to go in for him...

We'll see. Could definitely be an option and one that TPTB are supposedly keen on. With Walsh's history it's no surprise I suppose.

He said it about two/three weeks ago I think... Or something along those lines and he's since said that.

It's not odd, he's just stating fact really.

There will be an offer, it's up to the player to sign. If not, with a year left on the current deal, then we'll have to realistically consider selling.

@jolteon123 you disagree fam? That's absolutely fine, but what do you make of all this?
Barkley is obviously a great player who is having a great season and if he does leave I think it will be for personal reasons over footballing reasons (if I genuinely thought a 'gangster' was out to end my career I'd leave my boyhood club too to be honest), but I do think he is replaceable if he does go and some of the suggestions are really good players. Mahrez would improve our first 11 right away and so would Zaha, Both could be gotten for a similar price as what we would look for from Barkley too. I do think siggy is a little overrated, like charlie Adam when he played for Blackpool his deadball skills got his stats very high, relative to Blackpool anyway.

Ive probably been a little trigger happy with the dislike button to be fair which maybe isn't in the spirit of the site? Very much a lurker here so don't know what the feelings are about that.

Surely the only viable solution is that he signs a contract?

just sounds like it weakens our bargaining position if clubs know we deffo will sell him if we get the right offer...we will see
