New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

So essentially after 40 years we wont own the ground, we have an option to lease it again from the stadium owner - the funder.

We wont own our own ground, how is everyone with that its quite a significant headline?
No mate, fairly sure we will own it after 40 years once the loan is repaid and any Pre-agreed nominal fee has been paid

Great site.......but 50000 capacity for £300m?

They obviously do not want to cough up much more than £300m so we can rule out ambitions for 60/65,000 - which they will probably say would be more like £450m+. C'mon Moshy thought you were a billionaire - tight arse.

I'll throw a massive hypothetical into the works. From my knowledge of SPVs before today another use of them is to obscure relationships between different companies/owners to prevent direct conflict of interests (that specific side of it is incredibly murky waters)....

???

First things first - it's a good first step towards getting a smashing new stadium.

Slight apprehensions about a couple of things. Mainly the capacity isn't as large as expected but perhaps this can change depending on how far along actual architect plans are.

Secondly is the repeated mentioning of the Commonwealth games throughout the Mayor's interview. Makes me think part of this whole "Guarantor" deal is the dual use of our new stadium once complete.

I'm still trying to understand the terms, but this looks true.

It seems a huge figure for EFC to be paying LCC to guarantee the loan.
I've just looked at that Mayoral recommendation pdf laying out the terms of EFC involvement.

On first reading that looks horrendous on finances we have to put forward and the lack of control and ownership we have over the site. I;d have to be persuaded a hell of a lot to support this. It'll be sold as a good move to free up cash for squad investment etc, but if w're to be tenants paying inflation linked payments for 40 years it looks and sounds terrible.
