His overall game has obviously improved but it's pretty hard to deny that his game is not as exciting as when he first burst onto the scene.
We all notice the improvements in other areas because we're evertonians but to the average viewer he doesn't stand out in the way he perhaps did at times during his first season and thus i can understand their view that he isn't playing with the same belief.
If you look at that arsenal away game where Del scored in 13/14 season... he was the best midfielder on the pitch that match, looked like a world beater. I've still got the edited highlights of his performance sitting on my HD and he's electric compared to how he is nowadays.
If he can get back some of the 'edge of the seat' characteristics he displayed in his first season and mix that with his improve overall game then he'll be onto a winner.
I just don't want him to go the way of rooney (in terms of style of play)... having all his flair coached out of him for the supposed good of the team. There needs to be a balance.
I suspect it'll be being approached with a 'building the foundations' sort of perspective. Sort of how Ronald's absolute first priority was to sort out the awful defence and make us hard to beat and then build more exciting attacking football on top of that. Get Ross fit, give him a more defined role in the team, and then once he can do all that automatically, teach him how and when to express himself and take the piss.
