It was Koeman lads. Same with Befoldli/Daffodil.

Massive headed Dutch dope.

Not Gabbiadini. Koeman was keen and wanted him in the summer but I'd heard a rumour that leading up to January Walsh wasn't a fan and convinced Koeman to swerve him?!...

It's due to Koeman's liking of the player that Southampton were and had been watching him for sometime and followed up their interest in him January just gone!

Nah, the deal for Gabbiadini in January, just like Belfoldi, was nixed by Koeman after being as close to done as possible.

Just had a change of heart.

As if Gabbiadini would have been happy sitting on the bench behind Lukaku... give your heads a wobble ffs lol

Gabbiadini isn't an out and out CF. In his time at Sampdoria and the early part of his Napoli days under Benitez he played wide right and was very effective coming in off of the line and linking with the striker.

He's an intelligent player with class movement and I think Koeman saw him as a wide forward in his preferred 4-3-3 formation, just like he did Lucas Perez before missing out on him!

We never went back in for Gabbiadini in January. Made a move in the summer and Koeman was well keen and Walsh was hardly through the door but the rumour is that leading up to January Walsh convinced Koeman that Gabbiadini wasn't for us?!

Oh we did. We had a bid accepted too. It was all but done until an 11th hour change of heart from the Gaffer.

Same as the Belfodil rumour/deal. Done and Koeman nixed both.

In fact, I spent time writing articles on them both being completed, just awaiting the press release and quotes. Sadly, it was time wasted.

Right, fair do's. I'd read here and there that we never went back and a vague rumour Walsh put the skids on it.

Aye, granted there was deffo a lot of confusion around both deals. Just glad, in a way, that these types of players Walsh can pick out and identify as being able to take us forward are doing the business and show he can pick a player.
