....frightening to think the Cheltenham Gold Cup takes place 5 weeks today. Not sure where the time goes but this is my favourite time of year, Cheltenham and Aintree festivals just around the corner. I have an ante-post portfolio as long as my arm, at least Skybet are NRNB on all races.

I've been backing some of the specials. Thisthlecrack and uknowwhatimeanharry to win by more than 4 lengths 40-1

Seems like a crackin' price that. They've got to win first obviously but those races at Cheltenham are where the superstars like to win by as far as possible I think.
I mean as oppose to a handicap at Ludlow were they try to save a bit.

he was quality , shame as you say . once he retired channel 4 tried him when he packed in but he was very nervous and awful tbh ! That fall in HK was a car crash and it took a lot out of him I think. How the feck do you fall out of a bog window accidently ?
yeah - or he was bevvied but I assume a post mortem would have discovered high levels of alcohol. We'll never know.

What you guys reckon for the Gold Cup? I do like the look of Native River, who keeps answering the critics. People thought it was a coinflip between him at Bristol de Mei (a lot were saying BDR was a slight fav), but he just blew BDM out of the water.

Native River, before and after

...happier putting my Cheltenham ante-posts on now some bookies are nrnb. Backed a 40-1 shot for the RSA today to small stakes. More of a mug betting on the Grand National at this stage as the horses are not certain to even make the starting line up but I've backed Don Poli already @ 25-1 and will have a couple of quid on Houblon Des Obeaux @ 66-1 tomorrow. I'm a mug punter but it's a bit of fun for me.

I think the Grand National weights are due out.

...Grand National weights came out last night. Couldn't resist adding O'Faolain's Boy to my portfolio @ 66-1 but it has glass legs and withdrew at the last minute last year. Bit of a leap of faith he turns up but if he does he'll have a very nice weight to carry.

So fingers crossed Don Poli @ 25-1 (now favourite); Houblon des Obeaux @ 66-1 and O'Faolain's Boy @ 66-1 make it to the big day.

...hearing Thistlecrack is out of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
After needing one more yellow card in the arsenal game last night for a right touch and hearing the commentator saying "that would be a card in a prem game " repeatedly..

The news that Thistlecrack maybe missing comes as no surprise at all today.

Sake.

..ah, the perils of ante-post. I backed one for the RSA last week called Acapella Bourgois @ 40-1. It ran like a real good thing in Ireland on Sunday and the price has now collapsed. It can work out sometimes but even if they get to post they still have to do the business.

Got a soft lead on Sunday, won't be like that at Cheltenham. Did run a blinder though.

...yep, lots are saying that but the Irish handicapper taking a different view. I've only had a few quid on it but it'll be a nice interest if it turns up. I got nrnb, I know some think 16-1 is still a good price but the favourite looks useful.
