Why do Sky hate us

Because we haven't won anything for years and therefore in their eyes we do not matter ?

Our rise from the ashes will be interesting to watch how reported.
Especially when we spend some serious dosh.

This probably plays a big role. Most news outlets pay attention to what they think viewers want to see, not what the actual news may be. Rating$ are a powerful drug.

But also the British view on "class" may play a role. Sky don't seem to think Everton deserve to be reported, they're not of that class.

*That's my outsider view, but then I don't watch Sky regularly so then

Updated yesterday. Not even a mere mention of our name from any of the pundits. Contention for the top four finishes at 6th place with Sky.
We're on a great run right now but we are not worth a mention at the moment for top four. We need three teams above us to have a terrible run and for us to carry on our fantastic form until the end of the season so it is really unlikely. If we get something off Spurs and win the four out of our next five that we should win then the table may look a little different though.

I have their commentary on for matches. Sometimes I watch Monday night football. I'll often stick Sky Sports News on to catch up with the sports news.

Proper thick, bad blue me.

Ha in fairness i would listen to Gary Neville and Souness, but Redknapp, Henry and Carragher and the blerts on Soccer Saturday are an insult to intelligence.

SSN is great for whats going on but they hype up everything.

I forgot about one of the things that article reminds us of: When we were doing well in Martinez first season and the media started to accuse us if cheating because our loan signings were doing well!

Every time I think we are overstating the supposed media bias against us I will just think of that as the example that proves it

That was incredible haha, "£50m loan sham" is how it was worded. Trouble was we ended up signing all those players permanently anyway.

That's a puzzling post...Sky have done a nice piece on Evertons chances of top four today, based around an interview with Sneiderling, and have been repeating it all day. They have also discussed top Prem strikers and a lot of that has been about Lukaku. When Everton do something that is of interest to more than just Evertonians, we get good coverage. Maybe they should do a liece on 'Clubs with the best moaners for supporters' ?

If you think I'm moaning I think you're misreading! I'm saying top four is very unlikely and I'm not surprised we weren't in their discussion for who will finish top four. I don't think there's a problem with our coverage tbh, based off what we've done on the pitch over the last 20 years! They also always say goodison is a bear pit even though most games over the last couple of years have been really limp.

God not Souness he's awful and constantly miserable! I've got time for Carragher and Neville as pundits but that's about it on their matchday programming.

People saying it does not matter, and we are better off under the radar are missing the point.

Football is no longer about your local fans supporting their local club, they account for a very small proportion of annual revenue.

It is a national, even global audience that makes the money for prem clubs now.

If you are happy to see all the young kids opting for the other top 7 teams (due to the exposure they get) and thus, living the rest of their lives giving to those clubs then you must be mad.

I have lived down south for 20 years, I cna watch MOTD or Sky with a load of kids (no Yewtree ) and all they go on about is (was) Ronaldo, Suarez, aguero,Gerrard, Rooney, firminio., Sanchez,Ozil Hazard, COsta, etc. Yo can say that does not matter but, they so rarely (apart from my kids who are blues) go on about other players.

You need to see the bigger picture, the loner it goes on, the harder it becomes to become a force in this country.

amen brother, spot on

I don't think Sky hate us, or other media, for that matter, we are just not on their radar.

If you look at the reporting of "stories", not only is the amount of coverage heavily skewed towards the elite clubs, but the tone and point of argument in them is also adjusted to reflect what fans of these clubs want to hear and/or give an account from the bigger clubs point of view.

The whole Stones to Chelsea thing was the best example. We were told the player wanted to move, Chelsea wanted him, he would improve and further his career by moving etc etc. By contrast Everton were portrayed as mean and nasty in refusing to accept a reasonable fee and blocking the players progression. I can imagine Chelsea fans hearing this at the time and nodding in agreement. Any contrary view is marginalised and branded as unrealistic.

The only remedy for this is wealth and success. Even then, we won't get the clearly biased coverage given to Man Utd/RS in particular.

It does matter, but I'm not sure what can be done on a practical level about it, a few seasons of Champions League football and a trophy here and there would do no harm at all.

If we start winning and seriously challenging we will enter the discussion. At the moment we are everybody's second team.

I for one hate that!!!

It's interesting living here dominated by city and United. We barely get a mention normally in conversation, but since we stuffed city and rom's 4 goals against Bournemouth to go top of the scoring charts, people have spoken to me more about Everton. I know it's something that's only small, but most non Everton fans round here, don't see us as a threat or competition to the usual order. Deposing one of the sky media darlings out of Europe (preferably United or the RS) would see more recognition from not just supporters in general but also the media I feel. I just hope in the forthcoming weeks if we manage to sneak in the top 6, I wonder if sky will revert to only showing the top 4 or 5 then?
