Ronald Koeman discussion

But you've previously stated that you'd give him a year, next season, to achieve that. Funnily enough we might just achieve this in this current season. Decent enough for me after us being on a downward spiral for two years.

I know you stated Koeman was your choice in the summer, what's he done for you to hate him so much in such a short space of time.
Ronald is showing up last years clown for what he was. a man with a very limited understanding of the game of football, like some of his staunchest supporters

Don't know how you can pass judgment on a manager when he's barely been in the job half a year. I think you need a bare minimum of 18 months / 3 transfer windows to see someone's vision for the squad take shape. Especially in this case where what he wants to do is completely different from his predecessor. It's clearly not the finished article. He's sorted out the defence, but that's only half the job.

Then again, I backed Martinez until we went out of both cups last year. Am I just old-fashioned then?

For Ronny to take us into Europe we need Utd to win the League cup and FA Cup and finish 5th or City to finish 5th win a cup and Utd finish 6th and win a cup, basically we need the team that finishes in 5th and 6th to both win a cup.

A team winning a cup who finish in the top 4 would only effect us if the team finishing in 6th won a cup.

Also if both cups are won by top 4 teams, 7th is also good enough.

Easy, right?

We could of course end all this by finishing 5th or finishing 6th and hoping that a team in the top 5 won a cup.

We finished 11th on 47 points last season and come the end were a complete shambles, with the vast majority of the fanbase against the manager, football and horrendous Goodison record.

Going from that to challenging for European Cup place as a minimum the following season is delusional, especially in the context of the strength of the current top 6.

Right now we are 7th and on course for 60+points. If it ends up like that there has been significant improvement and the vast majority of the fanbase will be happy.

True enough - then hard(er) part comes next season

edit; If we're still 7th and out of both cups before the middle of Jan then davo might ...just... be on the right track - but then he also cried for Martinez to have 2 seasons and then see.

If anyone in top 6 wins the cups, then 7th is a European spot.

Not sure that's right is it? If United beat Soton then 6th place will get a UEFA cup spot, if the FA Cup is won by any of the top 6, then 7th will.

So basically both cups need to be won by a team finishing in the top 6 if we want Europe for finishing 7th?

Wonder how Ron will have us lining up tonight.

Hopefully he doesn't change much. Probably Schneiderlin in.

If we win and United or City drop points, we're not far off them.
