Anyone suggesting that the same squad that got us to two cup SFs last season cant be expected to win at home in the 3rd round of the cup to a Mahrez/Vardy-less Leicester need to have a word with themselves.

The players aren't the issue. The manager is a poor fit on current evidence.
Yet we sit 7th in the league not 11th

Then same players went out even earlier the season prior.

2nd round LC
3rd round FAC

But doesn't the league position suggest the same for Martinez also? A good manager can motivate for a whole season, not just cup games.

I'm not claiming Koeman is the saviour, but Martinez was far from good enough either. We were on a downward slope with him.

Our current league position is healthier than what he left us with.
Martinez disappointed in the end mate precisely because we knew he could get it so much better. From 72 points to 49 points was shocking. Koeman we haven;t a clue what he can do at this club. Totally unproven.

I tell you what Groucho: if in the next three seasons Koeman gets us 5th and to Wembley I will be amazed.

I get the feeling he is still unsure of the level of backing from the board, and/or may feel underwhelmed at whatever budget they have told him is available.

I expect he was furious as a result of the debacle that was the summer window. I just hope that whatever persuaded him to leave Southampton in terms of having a sufficiently large budget holds up to scrutiny, as aside from his own bumper salary here he could probably have remained there and waited for a better offer.

My hope is that he didn't join us on blind assurances, and that Moshiri can and will deliver in terms of transfer spending. But we need lots of players, and in my estimate, they'll have to put in well in excess of £100m between now and August, outside of sales. How realistic is that I don't know. I always get nervous when it is time for Everton to deliver, such as this month, as they never ever seem to come close to matching expectations, on the pitch or off it.

If he is of the opinion that he can't overhaul the squad to the degree required, then I won't know what to think.

Another game and I don't care about the result.

I'm a little lethargic about it and frustrated again sure.

Just refuse to get worked up anymore about a result when we have half the players we have here. Why be that arsed? Any team that fields kone and Barry and wonders why they aren't winning the game needs a reality check like going out the cup.

Whether we do something about it is another thing. Meaningless sponsoring training grounds and cladding and paying off debts if it just ends up that the club don't invest in the team and proactively look to rebuild the squad based on what happens on the pitch.
We're going nowhere without investment in the team irrelevant of the manager but we need to spend wisely.
Rk only wants 27yo's + for instant impact but that could waste a golden opportunity. Bolasie's been a financial disaster.
Happy to get Morgan but we'll only get the most out of SW if he's allowed to go after his targets.
RK has stated if he can't have who he wants he doesn't want anyone else. That attitude curtails SW's expertise and is certainly not in the best interest of the club long term.

There's been a mentality issue with this squad for years. Some of these are on their 3rd manager at Everton, the 20 yard retreat and eventual bottlejob capitulation happens under Moyes, Martinez and now Koeman. Until this squad has really been gutted no manager will take us higher than we are now. He hasn't helped himself in some games, that's fair enough, but for those blaming him for today's defeat, which players would you have picked differently? Cleverly, Kone, Oviedo? None of those would have improved the starting 11. What formation would you have used? Out of the players available that was probably our strongest 11.

The big job at Everton is getting rid of those who aren't up to it physically, mentally or just through shear rubbishness, and replacing them with winners and leaders and skilful players.

Who hired Ronnie in the first place?

I know let's hire a manager and get him to work Miracles with this bunch of shoite hawks.

Jobs a good un.

Get to ....

I agree. I hope Koeman will come good. However, I had my doubts about him especially from his period in Valencia, and this doubts are still here. I am willing to give him until March/April to start turning things around. But the start has not been particularly good for a 6 mill pound manager. Outplayed by Bornemouth, Burnley, Watford and Swansea and kicked out from both cups by the mighty Norwich and Leicester. Not good enough so far.

So because he gets payed 6mill he has to be some kind of wizard?? And we werent outplayed by them, we just lost. That can happen if you see our poor squad. 7th is the maximum with these players.
