Usmanov

I'd disagree on that.

I think it makes a lot of sense for someone who can't have any real influence at Arsenal to politely push his toe towards the table at Everton.

If Usamnov is indirectly involved with Everton with this sort of deal it means if he ever decides to sell up at Arsenal, but still wants to be involved with a footie club, then he's cemented a working relationship with someone he already knows and trusts extremely well.

That doesn't mean he's going to sell up at Arsenal. He may even be using us a bit to try and influence the situation at Arsenal.
The way I read it is think Everton are sort of Usmanov's bit on the side that he has no current serious intention of leaving Arsenal for but wants the vicarious thrill of stadium plannning, squad reinvestment etc since he can't get that with Kroenke blocking him.

Remains to be seen if we are just a short term fling or if he finds us more fun than the impotent role he has at Arsenal...

the last sentence tells us everything we need to know methinks.

he wants to be hands on, surely!

I have just stumbled upon this thread, but I haven't got the forebearance to read through 64 pages.

Can anyone please summarise for me?

As an aside, I would be delighted if Mr Usmanov joined our board. He is a man of great business acumen and intellect.

edit: Pretty much all of them say the same thing. £75m, training ground + shirt sponsor.

300% of the current deal was my understanding tbh.
If it's 4× that would be a max of 21.2 mil on the 16 mil 3 year deal we have surely?

Dunno mate. But I thought Elstone said 300% increase, which would be the £21.2m figure you wrote. Then again, I'm sure the 300% is rounded, so £20m may be closer to the mark.

Or I might be wrong. Or Elstone spoke incorrectly.

From the echo
"The deal forms part of the two-pronged £75m windfall chief executive Robert Elstone revealed at Wednesday night's General Meeting, with a new shirt sponsorship deal forming the second aspect of the deal.

Everton have not disclosed how much the USM contract is worth but some early estimates suggest it will see the club bank around £20m over the course of the five years."

I have mixed feelings on this.Money talks and on a financial level this deal is great for the club and the future possibility of Usmanov coming on board as an investor is great financially speaking. It looks this club is going to have a lot of money to help us achieve our dreams.Perhaps im being silly here but a part of me doesn't feel so good about this.Maybe with it's human rights violations and all that the thought of Russian money being pumped into the club does make me a little queasy in the stomach. The thought of Everton turning into a Russian sugar daddys play thing doesn't sit well with me at all.But i guess money is money and that is something we need plenty of.

Are you happy with getting Nutsy mate?

Apologies, you and the others are right - the OS is quoting 300% increase.
I wonder if the 4x relates to the sponsorship we actually received from Chang, because I don't think it was guaranteed 16m but was based on TV exposure including European matches.
But I'm probably talking bubbles.

Well, to be fair it's an easy mistake to make. My money is on a mistake from the club--saying 300% increase as a fancy way of saying they tripled the sponsorship, when really 3x = 200% increase.

If it's £75m over 5 years, 15 per annum, that's roughly 3x the current deal. Go figure.
