Club GM 4-1-17

I've seen a couple of people post negatively on Twitter Ian and they've been jumped all over for it. I'm not even going to bother to look at what shouty PED, orange Katie and wet the pants Kev have to say about "some fans".

You're ignoring the summer window that has just gone, where indisputably no serious money got spent until Stones left. Ignore the rumours and "info" (again exposed as pretty vacuous tonight) and that's the result. January is massive for this Club. If it's quiet, it's all just been soundbites. For me, and hey maybe I'm just being naive, I think we will have to spend a net £40m to stay competitive in the top half and we will spend it.

But as soon as the season ticket price freeze was announced - right at the start to ease us all in - it was never looking good for a big reveal. Everyone's "working hard" "same hope as the fans" etc etc but I don't think we'd need to dig hard for quotes like that from the Leeds owner, the Hull owner, Mike Ashley etc etc.

I think people have every right to sceptical.

It's not just scepticism though. Some will fail to see anything positive even when the facts have been put in front of them.

The truth is, as always, somewhere in the middle, and it's best just to take everything with a pinch of salt until it's done.

Got back from the meeting about an hour ago and have now had time to reflect on it.
My overall feelings are positive because of the following:
- the commitment of Moshiri seems to be far greater than I thought it was
- a new stadium looks more likely than I previously thought, even though there are still some significant hurdles to clear
- Plan A for the stadium is the dock, but we also have a plan B and possibly a Plan C (not something we had in place for the last three aborted moves)
- Although there are still questions over commercial revenue, there do seem to be improvements. Obviously the biggest of these is the TV revenue (£10m per year per club from China alone)
- Our fans are great: not only have they given generously to food banks, they have also bought several beers for Moshiri on the train up from London
- EITC are just the best. Fantastic - and recognised worldwide as the best.

Some negative feelings though:
- Moshiri admits that we are playing catch-up with the top six financially and that this may take time
- Moshiri ranks a good Premier League position above winning the FA Cup, and I suspect that Ronald agrees
- Koeman is not here for the long term. I don't think Walsh is either, even though his brother played for Everton

If anybody has any questions on specific points from the meeting, please ask and I'll do my best to respond!
Cheers for the update. What is the situation with the debt, both commercial and to Mr Moshiri? Do we still owe third parties cash?

What gave you the impression that Koeman and Walsh aren't here for the long haul- I would expect at least 3 seasons from Koeman and 5 from Walsh, in this day and age that is loads!

I think we'd all agree that Koeman is only here for a few seasons. ... in fact there was a link somewhere of Barca sniffing perhaps as early as next season if Enrique is bulleted.
Walsh will be 70 in 5 years. I would suspect that he will have a sidekick under training so he can bow out quietly around that birthday.

Would that be fair?
Yes - if Koeman is a huge success her then Barca is almost inevitably his next move. If he is a failure he will be sacked and probably return to Holland. You're right about Walsh tooand his fate will be inextricably linked to Koeman's performance.

To me, it looks like the club is finally getting back on its feet after years of stagnation under the previous regime.

Chill out lads, Rome wasn't built in a day

What was said that suggested this to you?

- Koeman is not here for the long term. I don't think Walsh is either, even though his brother played for Everton

Again, what quotes made you think this? I've always thought it of Koeman but I thought of Walsh as a long term fixture who'd work with several managers across his term.

Questions above.

We owe Mr Moshiri £80 million pounds. But we don't have to pay him any interest and it has no specified repayment date - although I haven't seen the small print which will undoubtedly contain some conditions under hich the loan has to be repaid.
Yes, we do owe money to other third parties, but this not significant and is normal for any business of this size.

Is it the £20m-ish that is being reported?

Can't help but be positive about this. Of course we need to see actions, but season ticket prices, new shirt sponsors and training ground sponsors will give us concrete evidence either way.

Still positive about the docks. If we'd settled for SC, we would be further along in the process as it would be an easier site

I'm sure he will be the same as Pochetino at Spurs , when Real Madrid come calling he'll be away. It will be because he has been successful , so in 2/3 years if Koeman goes to Barca It will mean he has been similar. I wont have any problem with that.
