Gerard Deulofeu

Forshaw has been a bit of a revelation this season, he was never able to break into the team in the championship as what we had was working so well but he was given his big chance this season due to injuries and he's never looked back. Still has areas of his game that he needs to work on but apparently Southgate has been watching him a few times, along with Ben Gibson. He's a good honest lad and he'll go far in the game if he continues developing.
I always rated Forshaw when he was with us and for a while it looked like Moyes did too, as a wide right MF. he reminded me a bit of Trevor Steven in the way he'd work the right flank as well as protect his RB. I see he's playing more centrally for you currently.

The option to buy is a problem as barce have first refusal with an agreed fee
Its really not a problem tho. As it stands, Deulofeu isn't anywhere near the Barcelona standard. You get a bid you like, you call Barcelona and say 'right, Boro have bid 13m. Do you want him back with all those clauses included? No? Ok, off he goes to Boro' or the like.

Exactly, Barca won't want him back at the moment so it wouldn't be a problem.

Maybe. I wouldnt be to confident in the fee.

I'm not sure how similar in style they are, Traore is all pace and no end product. From what I've seen of Deulofeu he's got very good end product most of the time but doesn't track back and goes missing in games. I think if we were to take him on loan we'd probably want a guaranteed option to buy at the end.

He does have very good end product when he decides to put the ball in. His crosses are much more dangerous than Traore's, but Traore seems to get to the byline more than Geri who tends to run into blind alleys, or over run the ball and can be quite predictable with his play - plus Traore seems a much bigger unit so doesnt get knocked off the ball as much.

As has been mentioned earlier the fact that Karanka will know exactly what he's getting and may be happy to work with it.

I hope its still a loan though as he has so much potential.

maybe, just maybe he's been put on a fitness/strengthening programme and been taken out of the team for a bit and maybe a loan is part of that development

or ronny hates him and wants rid asap

You just gave me a little bit of hope

It's the hope that kills you

Bye Geri :(

I'm hoping Koeman has seen enough not to sell him but to loan him out. He needs a hell of a lot of work on his game, maybe his attitude too, but the lad has bags of ability. Be a shame to see him knuckle down elsewhere and become the player we think he can become.

For anyone that's interested (and anyone whos seen me post about Del in this thread), his agent was in talks today with the club. Sounds very much sadly as if he is on his way out

I don't think anyone would be shocked if he went to a side even one that's above us in the prem or better than us in Europe and starts crushing it. However for whatever reason its not working here anymore.

Hopefully Joey.

I'll be sad to see him go because of the flashes of pure quality he showed in that run towards the end of 2015. And cos of the magic he could provide should he reach his potential.

I won't miss him running on to the wrong side of the pitch from a sub, or falling over, or cry arsing or diving.

Any club mentioned? Obviously I have a strong vested interest in it being us.
