I agree on this but at the same time he only gets the amount of support he has because he is local, if he was born down south or in Belgium no one would care at all about him. I agree on selling him for the benefit of his career, for me it is an all around winner letting him go for good money, he might progress, Spurs get a decent squad player and we can spend the money on someone that might fit into Koemans plans.

Its about having a quality squad and options if we want to compete for CL football. There is no point having a fantastic starting 11 then Kone, Gibson and Garbutt to rely on as backup.

His best position is on the bench and not on the pitch.
 

It's a very good point... if he was from down-south or abroad...he wouldn't have been given such a chance.

We're holding out for him to be our Gerrard. And I don't mind that. He's a toffee through and through and I'm willing to hold out longer too.

Im not sure why these guys are getting stick tbh...Zidane was 24 i think when he really looked class...Drogba was 25.

They get stick because they are young and the expectation is that our younger players need to be performing at A Zidane type level.

No. They get stick because they play like gash. I don't expect a Zidane performance every (or any) time Barkley steps out onto the pitch, but I DO expect him to be able to do the basics well, and most of the time he overcomplicates the game to the extent that he can't even do that.
 
Don't care if he gets an equaliser now, he's absolutely dog turd.

He's gone so backwards now I think it will be hard for him to get whatever he had back again.
 

What is he if he isn't a CAM? He certainly isn't a no 10, and I don't think we need another Barry.
Good intelligent players are adaptable and get molded into what the team needs. Poor players won't fit into any team no matter where you play them.

He played genuinely well this game, even without the goal. What do some of you want from the lad? It's so confusing
