Afraid to Progress?

I truly believe that this club is afraid to progress. Whether it's a mental issue with the players who have never really tasted high end success with any other club, or the manager not looking to drive things forward.

But since Moyes has come into power he has done very well to a point. The 4th place spot was not followed up with any financial backup which it desperately needed.

We put ourselves in a good position to get into the Carling Cup final, and the following season a great chance to win the FA Cup, but on both occasions we failed tamely.

Now this season we have talented players with potential to really do something, and if it wasn't for the injuries we would also expect us to be up there challenging for CL spots.

We have two chances to put away a poor Liverpool side and we failed at home, and failed even worse away from home.

We then beat City, Utd and Chelsea at home - and we all think that this club can really kick on and take us up to another level, but instantly they fall out of Europe pathetically, and now against Spurs we are just gifting Spurs the game with some quite poor and sloppy defending.

As I am writing this we seem to be picking the ball up and doing something with it, creating chances, but why didn't we do this from the start? Why do we need to put ourselves 5 steps back before taking the 2 steps forward?

I really don't have a clue why we can't progress naturally when we have the opportunity to really kick on?
 

Do you not think it's bang on though? We don't seem to be able to build on big results or big outcomes.

Any team who beats Chelsea and Man U at home in successive games should destroy anyone else in the Premier League or at least give them a game. Or do we not see Spurs as worth getting motivated for?

Did Moyes sit the players down and tell them what he said prior to the United game? Or did he expect the players to be automated? Are they that thick that they need to be told?

Moyes prior to this game:

“We just need to get back playing the way we have been for the last two or three months,” he said, ahead of Sunday’s White Hart Lane clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

“We’ve done really well and the players have done a great job. I think we’re probably the form team in the Premier League, with Manchester United, and what happened on Thursday doesn’t take away how well the players have done.”

Job done then, feet can be put up.
 

It's all about tactics ghost mate. I wonder why we spend hours and hours on defensive tactics and still let in more than a goal per match.
 
He ballsed up his team selection in the 1st half.

You're playing away from home, you're not going to dictate play against a good side unless you stamp your authority on it.....

With Arteta playing behind Osman as your anchor its not going to happen.

I've said Moyes has a squad to play with now so it's a test for him to utlise it. He's not got the balance right yet.

But we should be taking these sides on and not surrendering the midfield by backing off. What happened to going forward and closing down, afraid to miss a tackle and have Moyes ****ging you off?

Neville is captain on the field why is he not saying something?

But IMO today the big question is why was Jags left on the bench and an inferior CB chosen?
 
Jags is a long long way from being anywhere near match fit. If he was then I have no doubt Moyes would have picked him.
