That too. Still don't expect him to be here for donkey's years but it's a sign that the club are showing some serious ambition and one of the most powerful figures in the game is clearly taking it seriously.
It's a positive result for everyone involved, we won't get another goal scorer that consistent (not mentioning his all round play) and a guaranteed massive figure sometime in the future, he gets a pay rise and the ego boost to go with the massive price tag and his agent lines his pockets now and future proofs 20% of whatever idiotic side will pay out the clause.
Personally delighted. He's an asset and this means we don't lose money on an asset by letting the contract run down.
If we actually have money to spend then for goodness sake sign someone to compliment this lad and stop making him play in a separate post code to the other 10 players

If we build a side around Lukaku with an effective playmaker, I'll be as happy as anyone.
It appears we are just signing his mates to keep him happy. It's like my old park team where we let the star centre forward pick the side so he could have all his mates and not join a better team.

Would usually agree but can't see the point - he'd be sold for that anyway if he just requested the move.
