Ronald Koeman discussion

Did I say it was the worst?

By Jove I did not.

I merely said I was hard pushed to think of any at the time of going to press.

And as that shocking hour today is still fresh in my mind I am still struggling to think of a worse game :p
You missed the 3-0 drubbing at Sunderland, the 4-0 at Anfield and the 4-1 at Leicester then last April / May?

Or even the 1-2 at home to Swansea?

we didn't drop deep today. the game was very tight. up until ibrahm's goal it could have gone either way. I agree with Koeman we played better in the second-half, even if Man Utd's chances came more in that half. Koeman will build from this! the fact we're still unbeaten at home speaks volumes, we've managed to scramble that from this so far!

Exactly ..It's about building from now ..Koeman is getting to know what he has and what he needs .....

It's already reached the point of irrational hatred for me, the sight of his fat smug ginger face, I'm convinced he will fail, he has no humility in him at all, will not recognise any mistakes, I've no doubt he's a smart guy, but he's so dutch and nobody does blind self destructive arrogance quite like the dutch, he is basically a football managing version of detective mcnulty

Amazing we got a point in that game, could have even got a win if bolasie didnt smash crosses and valencia didnt miss an open goal.

As it is, 1 win in 10...pop the champagne corks.

I'm getting a bit confused by Koeman now although its still early days, watching the game yesterday it looks like we are going back to the non attractive long ball tactics.
Is this the way Koeman plays? or is it because he has no confidence in our midfield players on the ball? I don't know???
Will he go with the starting 11 next week or the finishing 11? its got to be the latter!!
Will he start Holgate next week? well he absolutely needs to he is more than ready.
I also don't like this sitting calmly in the dugout when your team is playing crap, stand there and bark instructions constantly for 90 mins.
Something is nor right around the place and am not sure what it is!!!

He was arguably lucky he stumbled upon a formation through injuries, but he tried to mix it up, dropped the right players, and hooked the coward.

It was an ok result in the end but needs much improvement

Less hoofball please, Ronald.

...I think the amount of long balls was simply because Barkley didn't play. Barry and Gueye get themselves goal side usually meaning Barkley is in that 'hole' or 'playing between the lines' as RM called it to receive the ball. Yesterday Mirallas added a different dimension, he's looking to score and often got beyond Lukaku but what it meant was there was nobody central to pick balls up from deep.

I really hope he can get some players in who he really wants, this lot are an embarrassment. I suppose once my fume has subsided over the absolute dross then of course he needs more time.

For what it's worth, I thought the defence was excellent yesterday, our attackers though are woefully short of confidence.

Correct, Toff.

It wasn't for 85 minutes or owt like it.

We were good for the first ten minutes and the last twenty minutes were a good old fashioned Everton cavalry charge to the sound of the bugles sounding down the Gwladys.

The noise was deafening.....just like old times.

But the 60 minutes in between?

There probably have been worse Everton displays since the nadir of the Walter Smith era but by Jove I am hard pressed to think of any right now

We only started looking like scoring when Valencia came on and we went 2 up front. 4-4-2 is an absolute must from the start next week, I can't wait for this 4-2-3-1 fad to die out
