Ross Barkley

Doesn't have the engine. Lol. FFS, I've seen him go box to box without breaking sweat.

He's got the energy if he had a manager who knew what the 'kin hell to do with him.

He has the energy yes, he could work all day in the gym on a treadmill, but put on on the football picth and the wonderful athlete is out of his comfort zone, we need player who understand what is going on during the game, and he simply dosent

I'm sure the manager doesn't tell him to put in a half arsed shift.

He needs dropping, if he wasn't the local lad made good, he'd be getting dogs abuse for his last few shifts.

For who though?

Bolasie, Lukaku, Jagielka and Baines also need dropping, and arguably Lennon, Mirallas, Deulofeu and recently Barry - the problem is we've got absolute gash to replace them or teenagers.

I'm not saying don't play the teenagers, but I don't know if that really is the answer.

It's quite difficult when your team mates are making awful runs or not making space, I suppose he could just play it safe and have a 100% pass completion but he is trying no make things happen.

He should be trying to make things happen if he's playing in that 'number 10' position. And he should make more things happen considering he's playing behind a top class 25-a-season striker.

It's just so easy for the opposition to stop Barkley because all of our play is centered on him.

I don't think he's playing well by any stretch of the imagination but I do have sympathy for what's going on around him. None of the other attacking players are doing anything to help. All of them are losing their personal battles against opposition defenders which gives him very little to go off in terms of outlets.

It does my head in Harry. It's depressing that when we have a poor result this lad is in the cross hairs. Anyone can see he's our jewel in the crown.

Ross Barkely is far from being the real problem here.

He is a very gifted footballer who is struggling through the lack of movement from others. I also don't believe this 'no football brain' rubbish.

Hardest position in football for me. If you're not pinging one in from 25 yards or cutting open defences at will then your performances are criticised.

He's not that type of player. He's one of those who will play off a striker and make late runs into the box, or drive into space when it opens up.

The problem is that Lukaku and Barkley can't play together. Lukaku needs the David Silva type of playmaker to take the ball in and make smart passes, whereas Barkley needs the hold-up striker who can drag players out of position and bring players into the game.

Both are very good players; just not together.

Maybe that's the issue....players believe that they can put if half arsed performances knowing that there is no one else in the squad to drop them for.

The likes of Lampard wouldn't look anything but average in this team right now. Barkley needs to be playing 15 yards further back where he can influence the game properly with breaking runs.

Always wants the ball pity no one else follows his lead.
Must get and look at his options and think uh oh that's why he gets caught in possession
Needs a more willing and mobile forward line and centre forward.

Absolutely. It's that, and a complete lack of balance and tactical cohesion. Certain parts of our side need to be binned, and the others need to be built around.

There's no doubt in my mind that Barkley should be the centrepiece of what we build around over the next 18 months. Every player we buy should be about him in mind. He's simply not in a system right now where he can work, and it's a weight on his shoulders.

But lukaku's movement is pretty poor mate, he is a power player who like to run in behind. Barkley usually picks the ball up to high up the pitch for the through ball behind the defenders to be an option. Moving him back maybe the answer.
