Ronald Koeman discussion

I've no idea whether this fella is any good. It's martinez players playing a Martinez system. I've no idea what to make of him. I know I despise the playing squad tho.

No its not!

3 Martinez players in that side today. Barry and Lukaku are probably widely regarded as our best players.

The rest are Moyes/Koeman players.

We have to stop bringing Martinez into it. He is gone, the players forced him out and we got a manager in who was the polar opposite of him so why are we playing the same dross?

The players didnt believe in Martinez's style of play (which is fine, neither did I) so why would they still be sticking to it now six months after he left??

If we are playing a Martinez system then what the hell is Koeman doing for his wages?

Koeman needs to be doing better, I'd like to see a change in tactics and formation, and he definitely needs to freshen the starting 11 up with a couple of the u23's.

However, I'm not hanging this all on Koeman, no way. This is pretty much two and a half seasons of this kind of no aggression, no backbone, no heart performances.

There's something rotten at the core of the squad. Heads drop the minute things go against us, players either can't or won't press the opposition, the movement from Lukaku + 2 wingers is constantly non-existent. Players seem to bothered about moaning at each other than actually trying to do something themselves. Koeman, Walsh and Moshiri have massive work to do to fix a broken squad, and it's going for take either a few transfer windows, or a couple really bold windows where we bin a lot of them off.

There's a malaise around the club where mediocrity is acceptable, too many people; players, staff and suits just aren't winners.

We're supposed to be Nothing But the Best is good enough, too often best of the rest has been acceptable.

8 of those starters spent years under martinez.

They aren't good enough.

But whether we should be doing better nonetheless? Yea probably. But ultimately we need better players.

for all of you complaining about him doing better and team selection etc what promise have you seen from the bench?

our players are just at this level and mistakes have cost us lately.

He's been labled ruthless and we need to see that side of him now. We know he cant sign new players until Jan but surely he can put 2-3 of our current youth players in there, even if its to make a point to certain players. Its not like we can do any worse than we are at the moment, plus they may actually show a bit of desire and press they way he wants.

Today was the first time I started thinking in terms of avoiding been dragged into the relegation battle as opposed to European qualification.
RK was let down in the summer but he's struggling to create a cohesive and motivated team. He's not getting the best out of what he has.
We should be too strong defensively to plummet down the table but there is justifiable cause for concern now.
