But we then had 45 crosses...which means we're relying on crosses rather than attack through the middle.

And 88 long balls. I'm sure we have the highest long ball stats per game in the league.

West Brom play less long balls than we do.

We do go long a little much for my liking at the minute, especially aimless long balls. But it's largely due to our midfield being crap and Ronnie will sort it I'm fairly certain.

And PER GAME we play more (76) long balls than West Brom (73).

This isn't a bad thing if you can pull it off. Spurs play 75 per game. But they're like...well better than us in all departments

After cringing at the thought of FDB becoming Everton manager last summer, now, having seen Koeman's football in more detail and his attempt to construct a way of playing from the players he has to hand, I think someone like FDB would have been a better fit to transition from Martinez to something similar but more defensively sound.

Yes, I laughed as much as anyone at his Inter Milan failure. But I think we'd be seeing a lot more progress under him than this.

I'm not surprised we are playing more long balls because the midfield are doing a fantastic job in pretending to be professional footballers. When the ball isn't at Williams', Gana's or Lukaku's feet I'm worried beyond belief.

Long passes are different than long balls, if we are hoofing it up to Lukaku then God help us, im personally not seeing us play hoofball.

It's an understandable response. My thought at suggesting it is that this shift from Martinez to Koeman is too abrupt...too much of a shock to the system. We required something different.
