Ronald Koeman discussion

It all depends on how you apply the athletic and mobile model; look at the recent examples of Liverpool, Chelsea and Citeh for the possibilities.

Currently our athleticism (and I use that word loosely) is not regularly transformed into a style of play that offers flair and attacking prowess.

But then again, I don't actually think that we're playing anyway near to a standard that shows being extremely mobile - far from it.

We're yet to see how and whether Koeman can apply a model that offers both athleticism and fluid, attacking football - I'm sure it's what he wants.

I can't see anything resembling fluid in our attack. We don't attempt to interchange positions apart from the Moyes special (swap wingers).

I would think you'd see signs of "something" by now. Instead its just "poor pressing"

You win the ball back in THEIR HALF.

There is no transition from defence to attack, cos our attacker has won the ball and he should have 2 options out wide and Ross overlapping him.

Instead the overhyped trumpet is crying like a lil bish cos somebody made him job 5 yards for a pass.
Yeah, so we get rid of a player who guarantees us 18 goals every season and replace him with a Vardy-lite headless chicken.

sounds like a winning plan.

All he has to do is sort the back four out and leave the attacking unit well alone, but that's obviously beyond his skills.

Just have another half in the 19th hole Ronald and let your brother get the cones in with Duncan.

He didnt change the attacking unit, why cant you get that? He replaced Kone and The Clev with Bolasie, other than that, we have the same players.

And because you don't always win the ball in their half...and do it in your own, what do we do?

If we forget about the pressing that Ron has complained about from yesterday, what did we do when we had the ball, especially from defence? We hoofed it.

Each of those teams has at least two creative forces in them. They play through them and they dictate the whole team's performance. I dont see Koeman going after a player of that nature. Who in that vein did he have at S'ton you could point to?
I can't, or at least of the level and ability that the likes of Silva, Hazard et al offer. I merely hope that with extra resources he'll attract one.

He's far from world class and yes he renewed his contract in the summer, but someone along the lines of Sigurðsson would be a brilliant addition.

Relieve Barkley of the pressure and shackles he's under while giving the forward line someone who'll open up opposition and feed them balls.

Never understood the 'let defenders defend and attackers attack'. The best teams all defend as a unit and attack as a unit. If you have players only interested in one aspect then the team will struggle. We had a team and a manager that seemed to think they were independent of each other. That change will take time.

Playing from their own half. Big challenge that if you want enough of them to overwhelm a team on the counter....which is why we dont see it anymore.

Stop drinking the Davek kool aid, we didnt hoof it, hoof it to who? Lukaku hasnt jumped for a header for 3 years.

Passes
549 Total
45 Crosses
1 Through Balls
88 Long Balls
415 Short Passes

1 through ball, in 90 freaking minutes, in a team in which our striker thrives off balls through the middle.

I'm half expecting him to go back for Steven Davis.

I think even they gad ore flair than us right now.

Koeman wants his teams athletic and extremely mobile in every position. It's a pretty basic outlook on how to build a team and I think it's at the expense of ingenuity and flair.
At this moment in time it is my one big concern
