Why would that be better?

Well, for a start, that person would be democratically elected as opposed to born into a public funded palace?

I don't agree that we should be giving any holders of public office "palaces", but for the taxpayers to fund the lush lifestyle and extravagance of a family who have done absolutely nothing to be there is ridiculous in this day and age.

For the cost, I'm prepared to stick with it, when the alternative could be Putin. Better the devil you know.

Exile them, open up Buckingham Palace and use as a museum for all things "royal". Charge a ludicrous entry fee. Exploit daft tourists. Easy money.

They don't do anything so just take all their stuff and use it to generate more money for useful stuff.

Members of Parliament are democratically elected and the majority of them aren't any good.

I don't believe systems and traditions should be torn down without good reason or a good replacement.
