Ronald Koeman discussion

Don't reckon comparing Koeman to our "worst ever manager" is a fair one, I thought Koeman was the next big deal. Bit harsh to lump them both together.

Bit harsh on Bobby, given the tripe Koeman is serving up in his rookie season compared to what we witnessed in 2013/14 ;)

The manager of Everton who simply acknowledged the fact that if Rom meets his potential he won't be playing for us for the next 10 years...
if you think thats ok then thats fine. In fact why dont you let Moshiri know that we dont want a new stadium, make Goodison a single tier stadium to reduce costs, so we know our place

I dunno, it's shades of grey, but the Martinez line implies more that Everton take players and improve them to a standard that has the best clubs paying an interest. That is genuinely a compliment to the club. Ron's comments essentially say 'if Everton is the most high-profile club on Rom's wiki page by the end of his career then he's wasted his talent'.

There was a world of difference between what Bobby said and what Dutchie Moyes said.

Bobby said it was a compliment to the club and the players that "better" teams coveted them.

Dutchie is practically offering to drive Lukaku to Barcelona or Madrid as we are not good enough for him.

Yes of course, and that was my opinion, but usually when one leaves an opinion on here they generally give reasoning behind why they agree or disagree, hence my reply.
Some dont mate. Some think they're always right and an oppposing view is automatically rubbished. Some are just WUMs and get a kick when you fall for it. Some can be condescending or just outright rud e. Some are just having a laugh. Most are just giving their view and don't mean anything by it. Can be very hard to tell one from another some times.

We all like to live in this dream world where we rule the roost.

Indeed, Toff.

And I have carried that dream since I was about six years old when I was scoring the winning goal that made us champions.

I still dream it now

As I suspect does every last Blue on here.

So no, my friend.....do not expect me to shrug my shoulders when some Dutch bloke being paid a King's ransome to make my dreams come true wakes me up just as Brian Labone is hoisting the European Cup aloft ;)

I am not having it.....

reach the top without mentioning leaving Everton would have been fine. he didnt need to state if he thought it could be done with Everton or another club really

He said he thought he had the ability to reach Barca.

That was it. He acknowledged that a player with Lukaku's potential wouldn't 'normally' stay at Everton all of his career (I quote: 'Everton wouldn't normally be the end for him')

That was it.

Which tbh Cowboy, is perfectly true.

I agree with @ianefc that yes, it wasn't probably needed. But seemingly Koeman was asked a question and he answered it, truthfully.

He didn't put a timescale on it, or say Rom would be leaving next summer even. He actually said they have a good relationship.

But, he acknowledged that Rom would not have fulfilled his potential should he stay at Everton all of his career. The las is 23 and has scored 50 Prem goals for us already, and has over 100 career goals...

If he doesn't end up at one of the European giants further down the line, his talent would not have been fulfilled.
There was another article out at the weekend along similar lines indicating he won't be going anywhere before the summer. Made me feel much better.

Which he won't be mate.

But realistically should he keep up his scoring form he'll be bagging 20+ once again this year - for the third-year running, and fourth year out of five in total.

He turns 24 in May...

We all thought he'd be leaving this summer. He didn't, and Lukaku himself has admitted Koeman was a big part of that (though there was also an unwillingness from buying club's to meet our valuation).

If he keeps scoring like we know he can, but if we don't get top 6 (and probably more likely top 4), I don't think that unwillingness will be there come next summer.
