Ross Barkley

It wasn't just the first time he lost the ball mate, it was the only time. As you say, he was surrounded by 3 players (which isn't unusual with Ross and speaks volumes for how other teams view his threat) plus he was fouled. But the commentators make a big issue about it, as they always seem to do, especially whenever he plays for England.

This perception that Ross loses or gives the ball away a lot is an absolute myth. His retention stats are up there with the very best, especially for somebody who plays such an offensive role. Other players are not scrutinised in this way so why is Ross. It makes me so mad. Dele Alli, who I think is also a fantastic player by the way, gives the ball away twice as often as Ross when he play for the National team, but completely get's away with it. In fact, media and commentators alike seem to make excuses for him.

Yes, Ross has been out of form for the last few weeks, certainly by the standards we have come to expect from him. And he hasn't kicked on in the way we all hoped and expected. But are you surprised given the stick the lad takes.? I'm just so glad that we had the real Ross back at the weekend and I just pray that that performance becomes the benchmark for the rest of his season. If so, we WILL compete for the top 4. That's how important he is to us.

Right. Rant over. Don't know where that came from but I feel much better for it.;)

Ross losing the ball is not a myth... I see it every week ...

Seems to be a long list of players that are not his type
Not mine either a lot of them, Ross needs to get his head right , he could be one of the premiers best players , he has got the lot everything, but the extra bit to his game most really good players have ,a true will to win, he is to half arse at some of the basics of the game, like putting in a shift or the boot every once in a while when he isn't affecting the game with his skill.

stats have proven it to be a bit of a myth. Sure he does give it away sometimes like every other player in the world but not notably more than other players in his position.

Stats can be used to prove anything... he loses the ball a lot more than most.. and most of the times he keeps possession it's those pointless 4 yard passes when he receives the ball and lays it straight back to the player that kicked it... 90% of his passes are back towards our own net... he loses the ball heaps and in dangerous areas ... and they are not hard passes to conplete

How often you lose the ball is one of the few things thing you can clearly show with stats.

You're just wrong I'm afraid and perpetuating a myth which has been disproven with actual facts and stats.

I dont think he was 'that' bad yesterday.

Seemed to get the ball and then be crowded out alot with no one to pass to...saw him running around 'pressing' which he never used to.

Pressing is good, but you have to win tackles occasionally as well, and unless Ross adds this to his game he ain't going to take us to where we want to go
