Trophy cabinet, Frophy Smabinet.

Koeman get's 7 million a year to manager in the Best League in the World (Trademarked)
Cocu is at PSV, a league nobody cares about.
De Boer will be back at the Jobby on Monday, begging his brother for a few tweets about West Brom and Stoke.

Still love you Frank xx

But ok, i was merely pointing out that he hasnt an amazing trophy cabinet and the posting of it including 3 charity shields isnt better than other Dutch blokes.

Totally agree! I have been enjoying myself far more this season than either of the past two, as evidenced by my more active presence here. (The past two seasons were depressing and I didn't want to talk about it).

I am preaching caution is all. I've yet to see a match where I've felt like we're actually going places. Everything seems nicely setup for a 6th-10th placed finish. And with the past summer under our belt...have we just reverted to Moyes' Everton?

Which is better than the past two seasons, I grant, but also not exactly something I'm celebrating. I need further convincing.

End of the day that's the thing, we may revert to a moyes like Everton position wide this season, but the league atm isn't as much of a locked shop at the very top and there's arguably 6-8 teams in contention these days for top 4 and more than three for the title, which there wasn't in moyes day, so say we finished 6th this season, unlike under davie boy, we now supposedly have the financial backing to build upon that position for the following season, that and if we do would be the litmus test for me.

I was simply trying to quell any over reaction to the victory, I'm sure that was the 'God bless you Roberto Martinez' game.

Villa were the worst team in the history of the league.

Why/how did you pick that one out?

I only ask as I looked at that one also and thought to myself 'I hope he doesn't check this one'

Hahahaha what is this? I am not aware of this

It boils down to whether or not people think we have the players to get higher than 7th and to me we don't.
Results have us on track to finish roughly about there, and that will be tested with a run of more difficult games. I have been underwhelmed with our standard in most of the games but we did finish 11th two seasons running. I'm not sure to what extent people expect better. Results are ahead of performances and that tome is a very positive indicator. I hope the expectation levels people have of Koeman arealso there for the board - January will be difficult but in 10 months the colour of their money will be there for all to see or otherwise. I won't be accepting any excuses then if significant investment hasn't been made. RK has a patchy record as manager in his career to date but he did exceedingly well at Soton under very difficult circumstances. My hope is that the English game suits his style and approach and that given proper backing, he can in time do better here than at Soton. Better would suggest we would be in or around a
CL place in a year or two. If Spurs can do it so
can we.
Defo this. They are the only guides to his ability we have as the rest of his CV is small time in other countries.

I'd add a word of caution and say that as well as he did making do and mending at S'ton (and he did very well at that) that type of situation often has the effect of galvanising a unit that's left to get on with things and the manager has a pretty easy time of it choosing the best team, as it virtually picks itself. We saw that a lot with Moyes when he was here. The difficulty could come with more options and more expectations.

Perhaps, as you note, this might be his type of league (there's defo less concerns and pressure about style in the PL than he'd get elsewhere, so that would make him more comfortable here) and he's entering into the very best period of his managerial career.

Koemans CV leaves Robertos Martinez's CV eating dirt imo.I liked his dig at Roberto as well when he said that our defending has improved a lot although that wouldn't be that hard after the last two seasons.lol

Seems like revisionist history to me that Martinez was dedicated to free-flowing attacking football, albeit revisionist history he encouraged. Maybe I just imagined up setting up with three defensive midfielders at Goodison in the 2014 derby. Or Tom Cleverly at winger.

We weren't "idealist" or any of that nonsense. We were just crap at defending.

Gerrard's last derby wasn't it, where we weren't interested in leaving our own half until the 93rd minute. In fact every derby since the 4-0 in 2014 we've been petrified of them.

In fairness, it was about defending from set-pieces.

It's not really a dig though, just stating a fact.

Well put Dave. I still have some qualms about why he joined us, was it money alone or did he see opportunity to advance his personal standing in the football world. In saying that, his contract is just for 3 years so what can be expected to be achieved in that time which would enhance his rep? Could he be tempted to remain here after 3 years or is he obsessed with Barca? Real? TBH goodness knows what state we will be in, in 3 years and who could we get then as a replacement manager.

Just for a bit of fun...

2% chance, or as I'd rather put it, double the chance of Man Utd lol
You know, that team who spent a fortune on one player? What was that about 'net spend', Koemoaners?
