New Everton Stadium Discussion

There's ways and means as others have said, a set of retractable seats for the first x amount of rows seems sensible. Then we can get the top UEFA gigs, just imagine the champions league final being held in the city - The fume from Big Stand FC would be worth it alone.

We also might then be able to pinch the NFL contract from Spurs as they like to have raised front row due to the number of players staff standing on the side lines. (sorry @RobSpurs) :p
Actually our new stadium is designed so that when the retractable grass pitch rolls out of the ground the NFL surface underneath is at the perfect height to not lose any of the seating in the ground. The attendance stays the same in football and NFL mode. ;)

If Everton builds a retractable pitch, Liverpool becomes a market the size of London, and the NFL starts having regular season games at Goodison for a few years to test the waters, then I'll worry @The binman chronicles. Till then, I think the 10 year deal up to 2028 is safe ;)

But as I said in another post a while ago, I think Everton should be looking at a multi-purpose stadium with an artificial surface like ours, but rather than partnering with NFL partner with LiveNation or some other global entertainment company. Getting concerts and things going by the docks should be a money-spinner for the club.

Dave does this and your engagement in the last few pages mean that deep down you are starting to get quite excited by all of this?

Note: I avoided use of the word positive and stuck with excited :D
No mate. I dont believe it'll happen in the foreseeable. But if it does this is the sort of form and design we should only consider.

Here's one of the leaked updated designs for the interior of the new WHL. Wonder how much the sky boxes are going to cost in the top left of the picture. I really like the inside of our new ground it's exactly right and might be worth looking at as a good starting point for Everton.

I wonder if Moshiri thinks the same way as we do
Big huge state of the art stadium on the docks that can hold concerts etc when we are not using it,lots of Everton themed bars, restaurants and hotels.A big Everton museum with all Dr David France`s collection.A fan zone similar to Nuremburgs would also be sound.

Forget NFL, this is what we need, make the stadium work for us all year round.

What will the capacity be when it opens? Can the capacity be added to at a future date?

Some of them, though they don't have many to compare, are utter tosh, just to balance that out.

What i like about Meis, is that they are Multi award winning sports stadia specialists and have people who specialise in that field that work for them.

The professional accolades for Dan Meis alone are too long for me to list. Many of his team are also very well rewarded for their work.

Thing is though, there is no accounting for taste is there.... Everybody will have their own favourite. I just hope it does us justice.
First time I ever heard his name was over the dock stadium possibility. I've just been through the stadia projects they've done and it doesn't blow me away, tbh.

Nice that mate ;)

I've been having a good look through the MEIS architects portfolio - and there's an amazing breadth of work there.

They definitely don't have a signature style, which means they approach each job individually.

Here's some of their work, for those who haven't yet seen their range:

Not all of those are to my tastes, but I'm convinced they'll come up with something that fits Everton perfectly. I can't wait to see what they do for us.

I agree you are more than safe for now and of course everything is london-centric but just remember you will just be the 3rd and smallest ground to hold NFL games in London. It's up to stadium designers around the country to make a venue suitable for games up in the north that are worth considering. If they do decide to risk it away from the capital then really you might have to be the home ground for a London based team to keep it going beyond the 10 years...

I was only half joking about the NFL stuff but you are right the more strings to the bow the better.

Opens as 61,000. There isn't any plans to add more capacity apart from if safe standing comes in which will increase the capacity of the single stand end by 3k-4k as it's designed with safe standing in mind.

That is an interesting way to increase capacity, so far with Everton it has been assumed that any future capacity increase would come from extensions, new higher levels etc.
