Let's look at the facts but for 2 poor penalties wed have lost badly.
Now let's look at conjecture,, even if Ross played poorly would he have lost possession more than the midfielders who played???? The stats from previous games say no
So why the feck are the likes of Cleverly, Delefeou and Bolasie chosen ahead of him ?

I'm guessing because Ross has no idea/cannot be bothered/won't listen when it comes to defensive pressure and pressing the opposition?

He knows how to play when we break with the ball i.e. keep the ball, run and pass to one of players.
That's the opposite to what I said mate. Regarding what you write though, I still think he holds the ball too long some times when a pass is there. He's a talent, but is not coming along as expected. Big Ron not impressed as Mr Phenomenal was either it seems.

We can debate about his progress and pressing etc but, today there were so many opportunities to break but it just seemed to get hoofed a bit to clear the ball. Ross is good, on the break, at the taking the ball and moving it forward which we didn't do well today. Got a good point though and not complaining.

He doesn't defend ... that's why he didn't play... if he was playing they would have found more space and we would never have gone 1- 0 up IMO...

I've noticed he has been pressing a lot more this season, besides if you retain possession better then consequently you don't have to defend as much.

Nor Fat Sam & Southgate. Seems to be a trend emerging.

Koeman will phase him out over the next 2 or 3 seasons, will probably go somewhere and be a big fish in a small pond
Given his contract situation I think he either works hard now and wins his place back in the team or he will be sold on the cheap in January or the summer to City.

I think in his mind he's already gone and the back slap with Stones didn't change my mind.

The worst thing about this is I think he will be a star for them in a deeper role.

And you hit the nail right there. I think he can do it. He just doesn't want to for every min and unfortunately under Koeman we aren't a possession side.

Comparing him to Silva is perhaps a bit unfair but then it does point out that Ross is a totally different kind of player. We need a Silva in the #10 role, it's vital in today's game. Mata would be perfect as he was an assist machine before he was shunted out wide.

Ross either has to make it as a centre mid or he won't make it at all I'm afraid. I keep trying to back the lad but after 4 seasons he hasn't shown that creativity in that role that we require to kick on and be top 4, or even 6 if we're honest.

Really think he could succeed Barry and play alongside someone like a Gueye but he needs to work a lot on his defensive game.
