Gerard Deulofeu

I thought the second half game last Friday night was crying out for Deulofeu .
We had done well enough in the first half. Efficient and compact with out being brilliant.
We were worth the goal lead at half time and the pundits should have been asking why the defender had his boot raised so high rather than why Jagielka had his hands in front of his face in an attempt not to have sustained a nasty injury.

In the second half Palace were the better team, we had run out of ideas and I just could not see where a goal was going to come from.

I know many on here really rate Kevin Mirallas, I am not not one of those and again on Friday when he did come on I felt he had no impact on the game.

Deulofeu changes games and creates huge problems for defences. Palace looked in control in the second half and nothing we did changed that at all. We looked one paced and unimaginative... I thought.
We had Barry, Gueye and Cleverley on the pitch and for all the qualities they may have, none of the three are in any way creative. I know Barkley was not brilliant, but Cleverley staying on the pitch and taking off Barkley surprised me.
It screamed of a cautious substitution at a time when we needed to grab the initiative.
Agree with this. Sunderland away is a good example of Deulofeu coming on and changing the game. He didn't even play that well but he still caused problems.

One of the only players that gets you on the edge of your seat. For me, he starts most if not every game. I think the only issue is his fitness levels and intensity on the pitch. Other than that, he's our most gifted attacking player and has deserved a proper run in the first eleven since we signed him. I think his treatment from mangers hasn't been very fair, and he deserves the chance to be properly nurtured. We gave Barkley that support, Deulofeu deserves the same.

It is easy to forget that Barcelona inserted that buy back clause thing in the transfer deal for one reason.

The lad has all the talent in the world, but something is missing in the locker, be it stamina, strength, something between the ears, dunno. But he would be my "go to" player to wake a team up or mess with the oppo defence 9 times out of 10.

Its also easy to forget that Barca sold him for only 4.5m.
