Let's not mention World class yet, do I believe Ross has the potential to be World class, yes. Is he right now, no. If he becomes World class will he be at Everton long, probably not. Who do we blame for the expectations that many of us have with Ross? Everton FC, Ross himself, the media? Something caused that and there is obviously some substance to the expectation. Is it a bad place to be in for Ross, depends on how he deals with it. Does he pay much attention to GOT, probably not.
In fairness to Ross he hasn't done anything to perpetuate the madness in expectation that follows him.

I agree he isn't World class, but my point is certain people expect that type of performance out of him

Stan I didn't say that so you are now misrepresenting what I have said.

I said

And those stats can be torn to shreds, depending on how you look at them.

29 first half passes to where, sideways?

Read it carefully and see that I am talking about people interpreting them differently, sideways is followed by a question mark. I did not not say 'Were'.
Sorry, I'm just answering your question.
No, the 29 passes were not all sideways, since you have raised the question. Strangely, if you were at the match you may have noticed that too.

I watched the match live from the US since I now work overseas. The point I'm making is that somebody, not necessarily me could interpret it that way. Generally when a player gives a good performances most will agree. There is a discord on people agreeing on that, which means people see things differently. I don't think Ross gave a very good performance the other night overall. Do I think he is a bad player? Far from it, I think he is a fantastic player ability wise. For the last two seasons our pass rates were sky high, but did it paint a clear picture of what was actually happening, not really. If we gave those facts to people asking how was the game they may look at it and go, wow those passing stats are way off the chart, you must be playing like Barcelona!.

I think most of this is a misunderstanding Stan, I am easy on things and will never keep attacking people on a personal level, so no worries. I'm an old dog, loyal but wanting back some of my old memories that drift further and further away each season.

My memories are a complete blur now

Ross is 23(near enough now) and is pretty experienced in the premier league (121 games)

It looks to me the player we have now is the player well always have, he's good enough for our team at the level we are at, but he's not world class.

Pretty much this, good player for a mid table side but nothing more

He is a good player without a doubt, but he isn't a Zidane or a Pirlo
Sadly some people judge his performances against the likes of the above

Said from day one, the lad is rank average. Unfairly put under pressure by those who absurdly thought we had a world class talent. We need a new number ten tbh.

Lol at rank average.

This forum is laughable at times, we really do have some absolute belters here but I guess that's to be expected on a footy forum.

It's like there is no middle ground, he's either rank average or world class.

20 chances created by Ross so far this season. Most in the club. 5th best in the league.
8 more than the next closest player. Imagine if he was actually playing well.

Lukaku has 12, Bolasie 11. Gueye 9 as is Mirallas with 9.

Why is it that Ross is getting overly criticised, yet Mirallas who is supposed to be at his very peak gets a free pass despite going utterly AWOL this season.
