Ross Barkley

People comparing Ross to the greats of Lampard, Scholes and Gerrard for goals and assists need to realise that there is a lot more to the argument than just following skysports.

Gerrard could grab a game by the scruff of the neck, Lampard turned up consistently and to big games, scholes could pass his way out of a bumhole without leaving any skids. Ross right now needs to show that he can do the basics right before becoming a legend.

His attitude for me is one of 'ive made it' he is almost bulletproof until Koeman came on, he should of been taken off Sunderland and thankfully Koeman seen that.

Please step up Ross, having our own Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes 10 years of greatness would be most welcome.

Not at 22 they wernt!

They were getting the basics right and showing signs of being a top talent, this is my point, you know a player is going to be class pretty instantly (sometimes right, sometimes wrong), but if you watched Ross lately you would wonder what the hype was about no ?

Crap at the weekend but still an absolute diamond.

I must admit, in front of the TV it was hard not to groan at every cock up, but he's obviously affected by it, so at the match I try not to groan at all when he makes a mistake.

Would suggest all try the same, but know that they won't!

As much as it pains me to say it, Gerrard was keeping good, established players out of the England team at 20/21 (played a starring role in the 5-1 Germany game), and would have been a starter in Japan/Korea were it not for injury.

Like Lukaku, I think that Barkley's early physical development has given him a head start on others he's compared to. It'll be very interesting to see whether he stagnates or continues improving over the next few years.

How do you know ? Did you watch his every minute ?? Did you count how many times he lost the ball or didn't put a tackle in ?

That Germany game was Gerrards first goal, and around his 4th cap, he was mainly sub from 20-22. Ross has played well and scored for England. He was stand out against Spain and Italy.

No way am I saying Ross will be better, we will have to wait and see. But what he has done, is comparable to those that Sky have listed him with.

Alright, we'll drop him for 6 years then

He's occupying a vital place in the team - and doing it poorly at the moment

I'm not arsed how good he is - or potentially good he is - at the moment he's not good enough to be in the team

7 others are playing just as bad.

You could say that of any number of players on Saturday, yet when the reserves got a run out they were definitively not good enough to be in the team either.
I'm backing Ross to get things back on track vs. Palace. He's not been awful over the entirety of the season so far, do need him to perform over the course of the season though. A firing Ross means we as a team are firing.

Don't be daft - All of the defensive players have been fine (Stek, Baines, Williams, Jags, Gueye, Barry)

The only player I'd put under the microscope is Mirallas - But he's blown hot and cold for the whole of his Everton career - and he occupies a place on the pitch where the game can pass him by - Ross is front and centre

The 1 and half games Ross has been poor in. 6 or 7 have also been poor.

Not sure who we'd play instead at the moment. Deulofeu was abysmal at the weekend, Cleverley is turd.

At least Barkley is trying to be positive, and he does end up creating chances in most games.
