Ross Barkley

I think now is the time to drop him into a more orthodox midfield role and see if he sinks or swims.

He definitely has the skill set and physique to perform the ball retention job that Dembele does for Tottenham. When I suggested this last season I was ridiculed, and even informed without a hint of irony that he was more comparable to Zidane, but I imagine that people are going to start being more realistic about his role as he moves out of the prospect stage of his career.

There have been plenty of valid points made about the holes in his game, but for me the biggest issue is his inability to put the correct weight on a killer pass.

Totally disagree. Just because someone is local does not mean they should be expected to do more.

It isn't Osman's or Hibbert's fault that they 'weren't good enough', they don't give themselves contracts, do they?

The money they're on is completely irrelevant as the whole footballing world is ridiculous when it comes to money.

So by your logic if you've got loads of money you're immune to mental health issues? I suppose you think Gary Speed was selfish for doing what he did? What a completely ridiculous and outdated opinion. It's 2016 mate. Wake up.
This is were the problem lies, every youngster that come through is now expected to be the new Rooney. I know it is all about opinions but being a local lad adds more pressure than say a foreign mercenary, they want to do well and this can hamper how the perform.
Barkley is a good player, he is not yet a great player, in fairness he may never be a great player...surely thiough we should encourage any local lad who makes it in the starting 11, instead of pulling them to pieces

At least the game against Bournemouth should be perfect for him. Plenty of space and Rom will be back.

It should be a good opportunity for him and the team to put this result behind them.

Something like a good display in 1 out of 4 games is not good enough, has he really set any game alight yet in the PL this year?

The lads got all the talent in the world, yet for some reason he just doesnt use it, im not and never will be somebody who gives our players a hard time at the game, I support everything the lad does, but if he continues playing the way hes playing not only will be dropped from the team but I suspect he will be sold within 12months.

Ive said many times, Koeman is adapting the tactics to fit Barkley in the side, he doesnt normally play a number 10 playmaker, he normally plays a SS in the hole, last night he stuck Barkley in midfield and my God he was shocking.

The lad has gone backwards at an alarming rate.

Wheres this lad gone?

Some have gone way overboard here. Look we know he was a bit crap yesterday, but I think a year or two under Koeman should sort out that inconsistency. It has to click for the lad becuase if he realised how talented he is and played without fear he'd be an absolute demon. There is a very real worry that that won't happen, but miserable arses booing him isn't going to change that. Support the lad through the bad times and he'll deliver down the line.

It seems our 'fans' always have to have someone to slate. People who are generally unhappy like to spread their negativity wherever they can to make themselves feel better about their own miserable lives. It's sad.

Osman,
Hibbert,
Barkley,
Etc...

Is it a coincidence that it's local lads who get the most flack? I think not.

Jealousy is a terrible thing lads. Maybe turn the TV off, get up off your fat arses and try and achieve something for yourselves instead of expecting things to come to you. The world does not owe you a living.

Or maybe people realise one of the below:

A) A player isn't good enough.
B) A player needs a kick up the rear.
or
C) Someone is overhyped.

Funny how people can slate McCarthy or Cleverley yet you cant slate Ross who needs to be dropped ?

A good question and Barklay needs to answer it with performances.

Should we need to wait for another year or two?? We need him sorted now not in the future. We cannot wait around for him to wake up.

If he has ability then should show it.
