2 goals and 1 assist in 4 games before last night - would suggest you're being harsh

One of those was against said Yeovil, and one was a cross that went in. Stats can do a lot of funny things, stats show he's as good as Lampard and Gerrard at his age when the truth is they were leagues ahead of him. Gerrard was dragging the rs to trophies singlehandedly at 23.

This, all day long. He's been awful so far this season Ross, make no mistake about it. Hence why he was hauled off at half time and hence why the manager isn't prepared to blow smoke up his arse. He needs a massive reality check. Perhaps when he's on the bench at the weekend he'll realise he isn't actually all that, and will be prepared to knuckle down and fight for his place.

I don't see what either of those 2 have to do with the conversation tbh. You asked it anyone thought he'd started the season well, and then tried to suggest that anyone saying yes, was being blinded by 'local lad syndrome' as opposed to their genuine football opinion.

2 goals 1 assist and 4 good performances is what I've seen mate.

Love Ross but we were so much better with Kev behind Rom and Del on the right yesterday.
He will get his chances this season and I'm positive he'll take them

I think the converse mate tbh. Boro will try and keep it compact and will be happy with us coming through the middle, we need to do what we did 2nd half last night and stretch them by having the 2 wide forwards hugging the touchline and getting at their full backs. I think Ross will be in the dugout mate.

Fair enough.

I agree on the wide forwards - definitely - so Del and Bolasie should both start if fit IMO.

Toss-up for me between Kev and Ross for that no.10 role.

As I said, I think Ross is more suited to dropping deeper into midfield and dictating our play, whereas Kev has that knack of getting in good positions in and around the area.

There was loads of space after our opener last night though. Don't think that'll be the case at all against Boro unless we get an early goal.

Dunno why, maybe I'm just a natural pessimist, but just have this vision of Negredo bagging on the counter on Saturday haha

See this is exactly what I was talking about. Looking purely at numbers doesn't tell us anything about his performances. You can't possibly say he's put in 4 good performances if you've watched us, I felt embarrassed for him at West Brom and he was awful against Stoke as well.

He is sometimes to casual and too careless. Last night was one of those.
I think he has to learn that not everything he does is brilliant or clever. Sometimes , keeping it simple , keeping possession and keeping the game moving is the way to go.

I think he needs also to add a bit more pace and aggression to his game. It is all there he just needs to produce it on a more regular basis.
Under Koeman sub standard performances won't be accepted. He will be a better player for it.

Ross didn't seem to care last night.. but I think he has had some good games so far so as long as he storms back next match then fine and no foul. He just cant afford to have a bad run and not sort it out as he will won't only be moaning about not making the England team..

I was hoping that having a manager who doesn't indulge his flaws would be good for Barkley, but now I'm not so sure.

Unlike Martinez, Koeman isn't going to be blown away by anything an Everton player can produce - he's played with someone ten times better than every single one of them - and I'm beginning to wonder if Barkley isn't simply too used to being left to his own devices in a team with no set targets.

he weren't terrible on the ball ( not great either ) it was more of the ball for me, he literally is incapable on winning headers or 50/50's he just puts no effort into it. needs to up his game massively and would deffo start del ahead of him against boro
