Bobbys pay off

Will this be highlighted in the yearly accounts? Or will it just go into the famous 'other operating costs'

Now I know why we were reluctant to sack him. Fancy giving him a massive new contract after one year though.

This is probably why we didn't spend much in the summer.

On another note if you get a job on a two or one year contract for example working for a manufacturing company. If they sack you, you don't get anything! Why then in football do you?

Its because they are fixed term contracts so if you terminate before the end then the person sacked is entitled to have the rest of it paid up (provided of course its not a sacking for something like gross misconduct)

Do you think bobby would have kept us in the prem with the teams that those managers had?

I don't know.

Nor do you.

It is impossible to say......that's just my opinion. And it seems the opinion of some others.

All we can do is go by what we saw on the pitch and IMO the three years of Bobby's tenure were way better than owt we seen during the reign of the three managers I named.

And if you ask me, that first season of Bobby's saw levels of football here we hadn't seen for yonkos.

So there ya go ;)

Unbelievable there's no mitigation of loss clause. So we can't deduct his Belgium salary from the pay off. Do we not employ lawyer like, at all?

Does anyone have any evidence that this payout is real?

If they do I'd defo condemn it and Martinez for picking it up.

So can anyone provide that evidence?
There's no way this payout is real. The guy is in a new job. At the very least whatever he earns from Belgium would be taken off the amount and that's were the negotiations would begin.

If it is real whoever agreed to it needs to be fired.

After his first season I would say most people thought we had hit the jackpot with him, and were happy with him.

In football nowadays if you have something or want something you have to pay the price, we did that and it didn't work out.

It happens with managers and players....Martinez being paid out for the remainder of his contract is not new

Good people I trust (non-blues, i might add) always said to me (even during the first season with us), that Martinez was a chancer and that he would take us down. At first I argued the toss with them, I was stubborn and refused to see the damage he was doing to our club. However I was on the outside of the club - this is a club that Bill owned and managed. He in my mind is fully responsible for what happened to us. Martinez simply blagged his way into the club.

However I do take your point about paying off contracts - but its not us and sooooo like RS behaviour.

I don't remember too many people screaming when he was given an extension, at the time it seemed a good move coming off his first season and the club were apparently desperate to keep him from the clutches of Tottenham. Great negotiating position for him and he has benefited in a way neither party could've predicted, but the amount is obscene when put into perspective, but that's not Bobby's fault.
