People are used to relying on spellcheckers and autocorrect too much. Not saying I defo believe that supposed text message etc but intelligent people can and do make spelling mistakes.

I think I'm right in saying both spellings are correct. One is more traditionally British English, while the other is American, but I'm never sure which way round it is.
