so if that is true what makes everton players different and why root for a pro team? I think it's more complicated than that and it's not nearly as far off from the things everyday people want in their jobs.

to feel valued (financially surely, but also at their place of work (eg playing time)), to create a sense of meaning (have big moments, rewarding relationships with a fanbase, etc), to have success (play in the highest competitions, titles etc), and a job that permits the desired personal life of that player (and though this might seem ridiculous to us professional footballers work and socialize with other professional footballers, hangers on and generally rich, good looking people giving a distorted view of what that might require).

certainly all of these things lead to higher wages and bigger profiles but each player values these things differently and everton can primarily offer wages and a sense of meaning via 'the project' atm. there's not really convincing evidence strong enough to sway a neutral professional that we're a better spot to play than Man U or Juventus for only 15 more grand a week or whatever.
Is this is in response to what I posted above......... if so... just click on reply..... then I know it is aimed in my direction. Some very good points made there though.

sorry! didn't intend to do that. it was more generally inspired by posts I've been seeing than a direct response
