Ross Barkley

I wasn't criticising Allardyce. I just wanted to call him a fat get.

I'm sure Barkley will be given a chance at some point.
I don't think he will, to be honest. Just doesn't seem to fit in for England at all. Nothing to do with his talent, just the nature of his game.

taking rooney over barkley is madness if he's playing rooney as a CAM

barkley is faster, with more stamina and an arguably better shot from range, as well as being two footed

fat sam following the England tradition of worshipping big names

....i wouldn't compare Barkley with Rooney. The latter is Englands and Manchester Uniteds biggest goal scorer, has more outfield caps than most and has won just about every honour in the game at club level. If young Ross has a similar career he will be some player. Rooney deserves to be a 'big name'.

I think Barkley is a confidence player, he has great potential but the atmosphere at Goodison doesn't help him one bit, wish sections of our support would button it or bugger off.

This. I had one in front of me at the Spurs game - every time Barkley touched the ball he was effing and blinding and roaring at Ross. And that wasn't the first time either. I really do wish they would get off his back and let him play.

yerh but that was then and this is now
on that logic we could recall bobby charlton

Long way to go before the World Cup. Barkley needs to move back into midfielder for his own international career as much as anything else.

Big Sam will play a 4-4-2.

...in the last minute of Uniteds game at the weekend it was him who won the game for his team when they most needed it. Rooney is still a terrific footballer, Mourinho would move him on otherwise. Rooney has earned the right to be considered a 'big name', young Ross can only aspire to be as good at this stage.

This could impact on us with barkley, he might have two move to one of the media darlings team to be recalled. Sam has basically snubbed him.

I really wouldn't be surprised if it was Ross who had requested not to be included in the squad.

After spending the best part of a pointless summer cooked up with that crowd and not getting a single minute on the pitch he probably wouldn't want to go through it all again so soon.

On paper there is no reason why he wasn't included.Im sure he will be back in future squads.

To me theres clear parallels with Le Tissier and Scholes for eg.

You want the best out of him, you have to build around him or make him the key player.

For some reason, its unfashionable to do so.

I don't honestly know what Barkley has done to have an England team built around him tbh.

Scholes was light years ahead.

Again, neither has that entire squad. The only one you can do it with is Rooney, which would cause an uproar...and we've never done it anyway

As for Scholes he was pushed to one side for the blood and guts Lampard and Gerrard. The same principle applies now with your Ali's and Lallanas who hide behind better players.

And how Lallana gets a call over him is still a mystery.
